This is a helpful thread... I am also looking to make the jump to Panerai...
I have a good deal negotiated on this PAM 111 from the seller and wanted thoughts on Authenticity before wiring the funds... I appreciate the expertise here as I know little about the intricacies of these watches... The names match on the sales reciep (printed) and the warranty card (hand written). Seller claims the watch comes with the boxes, as well as the band removal tool, but ONLY the leather band (no black rubber strap). Thanks in advance for your help verifying. -Neil |

That's what I thought Alex. Again, I know so little about these watches and have been trying to read up as much as I can. Is the PB------- number the "serial number" to the watch or is that the same number on ALL PAM 111's? I always see guys cover up the ----/2500 number on the backs of PAM's and thought this may actually be the "serial number".
Thanks again for any help from the experts out there... Have been looking to make the jump for quite a while and love the classic style of the 111... -neil |

Hard to tell due to poor picture quality. But I hv my suspicions with this one. Just doesn't seem right.

I would ignore this offer and go for another one. I know how good the fakes look like - specially the PAM 111. Regards, Alex |

That's exactly what I figured. I thought I was paying just under market. A good deal, but not worth a risk.
It's amazing the length someone will go to pass off a "fake" as real... That said, does anyone have a line on a nice used PAM 111 or possibly 000 or 005? I've got the itch, I guess I'll have to scratch it! Thanks in advance! |

First 2 photos are from ebay.
next one of the watch was taken by the same camera as the two cards. the two of the card were taken on 12/6/11. last was a little different, just shows edited on CS5 on 12/6/11

Neil - have a look in the "For Sale" section on this site. There's a 111 on offer now and then. Moreover, send a message to one of the many trusted sellers here and they will for sure be able to hunt you one at a good price and give you peace of mind.

neil -am looking at the pam catalogue and my 177 (a 111 with a titanium case)
doesn't look right to me - the pictures are of such low quality for a high priced item - its hard to tell even if it is a sandwich dial. Surely anyone selling a legit expensive watch would take better pictures? |

it's fake indeed
there are two main things on movmt: 1- engraved OFFICINE PANERAI is too big, the colour of engraving is off - typical fake 2- the bevels on jewels are too vertical -- look at gen and it's easy to spot it -- and it's quite difficult to any fake to match that. best |

The CG pin is also round, not flat and flush with the CG.

Doesn't the Lume look really yellow for some reason. I've seen fakes with the same color yellow.
