Better investment? PAM or diamond tennis bracelet?

I offered to buy a tennis bracelet for the Mrs.'s but she says she doesn't necessarily want it right now. So, I thought I'd use the money to buy another PAM for myself for the time being. I would never sell either of the two if bought but I'd still like to know what you all think about which will be worth more down the road in case I had to sell. So let's say I was able to get an $8K the PAM for 10% off or $7200 and the tennis bracelet costs the same which would likely have a 5.0 t.c.w. of round brilliant VS1 or 2 and H or I color. Will the PAM retain it's value better than the diamonds?

Of course there are way too many variables to say for sure but I would say the Pam bu far over the jewelry. That being said neither is really an investment IMHO

Jewelry is generally a bad investment (watches included). Given the facts you shared, I'd buy the watch. Sounds like you'd enjoy the watch more than your wife would enjoy the bracelet at this time.

Do yourself a favor and at least buy something with a bigger discount through one of TRFs popular forum sellers. At least then, you're less in the hole should you opt to sell in the future.

Investment? Watches and jewerly is not a financial investment...unless you want to lose money..i dont understand why people view them as such...they are luxury items meant for enjoyment....often too personal for them to be considered objectively, you wil always think they are more valuable and get offended if you dont get the right price..used watches and jewerly will always lose money in the end..so invest in something else...and enjoy your luxury goods...i say it is rationalizing using the investment angle to justify your purchase.....

Thank You for all of your responses. I'm after the 244. OK, so maybe investment is the wrong word. Maybe I should've said which on would depreciate the least. At any rate, the PAM seems like the unanimous winner. And a side benie is that I'd get to enjoy it for life.

For diamonds of good investment value you'll have to get big diamonds (1 carat or higher), D-F color (colorless range) & IF/VVS1 grading with international recognized certification.

The Panerai would be the better of the two on the surface as you know what the original cost is at MSRP and if you do a little searching you will be able to find what the AD cost is on the watch. At only a 10% discount from retail you will get crushed in a trade or a sale. For a new AD watch, non LE, it has to start at 20% off retail. This is the range a TS can get you the watch for and take another 20% off that price for a trade. The tennis bracelet can not be verified for price on the stones, workmanship, etc. Unless you are buying from Tiffany or one of the other large houses the resale value will be dismal. Get the watch and when the wife is ready she will let you know. Good luck.

The watch will lose a good portion of its dollar value as soon as it's purchased and worn.

You’re probably right but there’s not enough drugs in my head to imagine what he was searching for
