What about stolen watches?
I've read about fakes now. I hope to be able to avoid them. But here's another related issue. When you are offered a watch which in fact appears to be what it is supposed to be, by a private party, is there anyway to know whether that party came by it honestly? That is, is there something like a clearing house for stolen Rolexes? Is there a registry?

None that I`ve heard of.
If you`re looking at a watch that is suspicious, stay clear, that`s the only advice I can give anyone on the topic. |

That's why I like papers. Either Rolex waranttee paper/card or RSC service papers.

Sadly no. But that's why we say "buy the seller first" then consider the watch.
