Rolex Museum?

This summer I took the family on a European Tour that started in Holland, went through Germany, Switzerland & France, then ended back in Holland. We spent one entire day at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. It is one of the most impressive car museums on Earth. Porsche spent a fortune building the place and getting the greatest collection of Porches under one roof. I wonder if Rolex will ever follow suit and open it's own Museum. There are many similarities between the two companies.

Nice cars.

Rolex has its own museum, but its only open to Rolex employees.

It makes you realize that those cars are driving works of design art. That building is very beautiful as well.

Someday, maybe , Rolex might assemble such a collection for the public.

Of course the cheapest model will be $50,000 and the upper limit Woolf be $500K

I opted to collect my last porker from the factory in Stuttgart and had the amazing museum tour and more importantly the no speed limit autobahn on the return Definitely recommend that option

There's the Rolex Experience in Shanghai which is a permanent exhibition showing a limited collection of vintages, including a Deepsea prototype...

If Rolex opened a museum would they charge admission to Rolex owners?

I think Rolex should follow Patek's lead as they not only embrace their heritage, but actually put their money where their mouth is and buy vintage pieces at auction to add to their collection.

Nice pictures. Not sure if I would like a Rolex or Porsche museum more, but they would both be in my top 2 favorite museums.

I believe a virtual museum online a'la the Mondani book theme - but covering the breadth and history of the Rolex watch family would be more accessible. After all, how much can you see when a watch is several feet away behind a theft proof glass case?

Wow, that's impressive. When I was a kid, I tagged along on a business trip with my dad to Stuttgart in I believe August of 1990. We went to the Porsche museum and it was something along the lines of a small one room warehouse with a center aisle and cars on both sides. I remember thinking that I though Porsches were expensive and this was a pretty crappy museum! I remember that while trying to find the museum, we inadvertently walked through a door and into the middle of the assembly line of the 911s. Security was a little more relaxed back then!

The Mondani book is already online via the Apple app store.

Ive had it over a year or so, and all the new 2011 models were added a couple of months ago via an update.

Some great ogling/dreaming material on there.
