Am i the only unlucky one with new rolexes?
Hi gys,
I've got 2 Rolexes which are both not within COSC standards. One is a M series bought new in 2008 and the other G series bought last year. Neither have ever been within COSC since new. I just never bothered much with it since i didnt mind adjusting it. The other day i decided to really time it to see how out of spec they were. The 2008 M series was +12 / 24hr The 2010 G series ware -8 / 24hr I'm going to bring the 2010 to my AD since its still under warranty to see if they can regulate it. Do i just have bad luck or do Rolexes fall out of spec pretty often? I generally wear my watches all day and night. thought?

Have you given each 40 winds, set them to a reliable time source, and checked them after at least a week of wear?

I'm not sure about all Rolex watches, but mechanical watches do need regulation from time to time.
I bought mine in the last three years and the Explorer and the DJ needed regulation at one year. There are a lot of variables, including magnetization, but it's not really anything to sweat. Try Dan's suggestion first, though.

40 full winds. And check over a few days and average it. The way the watch rests over night, etc. can affect the short-term accuracy.

Am sure it'll be an easy fix (if self regulating by the way you leave the watch at rest doesn't do it).
Mine had to be looked at after 2 months, so it's not just you. Good luck....

Thanks for the tips. I never tried manually winding them that much. I usually just give it a few spins just so it starts. Ill give it a shot though. :)

I can't believe that a fully wound watch would be or should be more accurate then the same watch that was not fully wound. If that were true then you would have to wind your watch the first thing every morning to make sure it was accurate for the rest of the day.

You have bad luck. Stay away from ladders and black cats, too!

An under wound watch can/will make the watch run a bit fast. Give it a shot and report back!
