Mechanical Pencils

Just wondering why there are no posts bout pencils. Do people not use them?

I use pencils more than pens. During meetings, on the 'phone, scribbling notes etc. I guess I like the reliability of them. My MB Le Grand pencil certainly gets a lot of use most days, and I am just waiting for a Faber-Castell pencil I have ordered(in a nice light maple wood, the bottom example) too:

I bought my wife one of their pens at Christmas, and am really impressed by their quality and value.

I use pens when required, and for more permanent needs, but for quick notes a pencil usually falls to hand.

Anyone else feel the same? We see plenty here about fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints, but seldom any pencil posts...

I do have a MB Meisterstuck pencil which uses a 0.7 lead. I like it a lot, but haven't used it in a long time (years?).

The Le Grand uses 0.9, and the Faber-Castell e-motion uses 1.4!

I use mechanical pencils but alas I do not have a nice one...yet. Right now I have some cheap ones such as Pentil and Parker. I prefer one that uses a 0.5 lead and really like the ones that use 0.3 lead!!!

They have many different lead sizes and it ain't funny when you got a pencil that feeds on 1.18mm leads, which are not made anymore

It turned up in the office today. Nicely finished, lovely and tactile with the wood barrel and the matt finish metal trim looks great.

A couple of pics of it in the office:

I've been enjoying my MB classique mechanical pencil that I got recently as a graduation gift, with a nice quotation. Basically, it's not about being right or wrong, it's best to put something down first and the pencil goes well with that. I was so impressed by the pencil, that I'm going to buy a matching fountain pen. I've used drafting mechanical pencils since grade school, and I can say the MB mech pencil is incredible. Here is a pic

I really want to pick up a good mechanical pencil because I have always used drafting mechanical pencils as well(I have my Dad's old drafting pencils). Since I use two MontBlanc fountain pens everyday I guess I'll pick up one of theirs to add to my collection and daily use!!!

Leo, you will love it. They make several different mechanical pencils. Perhaps you can get one that matches your Fountain pens or one that fits you the best! The mechanism to push the lead out is really cool too.
