16613 questions

I have one and I have noticed that inside the watch along the "rim" ? of the inside there are the words rolex etched inside. Mine doesn't seem to have these. I bought my watch from a gray dealer who wholesales diamonds in the the jewelry part of san fran. I am getting a bit concerned but I have not made my way to a AD. He opened it up for me because after i bought the watch the sweeping hand was loose. When he opened it up the components inside were brass and one of them was like a pink/red color. everything else looks legit should I be worried its a U serial number

Sounds correct to me for a 'U'.

Do you have any pix?

Your watch was in production a few years before they started etching the ROLEX around the inside of the rehaut..

Well your watch is from around 1997/8 Rolex did not start the Rolex Rolex Rolex branding until 2004 Serial F/D on some models on the inner Rehaut ring your watch is fine don't worry.

You will also notice that the watch you saw with the Rehaut ring engraving had multiple other differences from your watch. Look at the pictures where you saw the ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX engraving and notice that the lugs don't have holes in them while your watch should, also the end links (where the bracelet meets the head) on your watch will not be a solid piece while the newer one is, the last significant difference is your clasp which should be SS with no gold whereas the newer model should have gold through the clasp. I believe for the 16613 the RRR engraving didn't start until the M series which came nearly a decade after your watch. Your description of the movement sounds correct. Enjoy the 16613, it is one of the most beautiful watches Rolex ever made, IMHO.
