GMT II and EXP II - weight?
Hi all, new member here, I've been a lurker for quite several weeks now. My first post...
I just acquired a GMT II black and red version (Z serial). I own EXP II also. Now, I notice that the GMT II is actually lighter than my EXP II. Eventhough they have the same bracelet. Also, my GMT bracelet is rattling compared to my EXP. Is this normal? TIA. |

Welcome to the forum Oyster21! Glad to have you aboard.
The weight in grams of the Explorer II (16570) and older style GMT II (16710) are actually just about the same. The weights are as follows: 1. Explorer II: 126 grams 2. GMT Master II: 127 grams The Explorer II probably feels heavier to you because it has a solid SS bezel compared to the GMT but technically they are similar in weight and you wouldnt be able to tell which is heavier. They have the same movement and bracelet. Your bracelet rattling is nothing to worry about. Try holding your watch sideways and up in the air. Do you see the bracelet stick straight out from the case when its sideways out or does it bend downward slightly? Welcome again, do you have pictures of your watches? We love pictures around here.

thanks BiG JeEzY!
That's probably is, the solid bezel on EXP II. Yupe, I did check the bracelet on my GMT by hanging it sideways and it bends down a bit. I might have to go to local AD and have it tightened. here's some pics I just took :D DSCF0087.jpg DSCF0088.jpg DSCF0089.jpg |

Great looking duo you have there!! I have a duo similar to yours as well, Im very happy to say.
We should start a "dual time zone club" here on TRF for people who have both the GMT and Explorer II models. About your bracelet bending downwards like that, it is completely normal, dont worry about it. An AD will not be able to just tighten it for you. This is because the bracelet is not "getting loose," it is actually "stretching" from normal wear and tear. My suggestion is that if you are wearing your watches so loose on your wrist that they move around like bracelets, then I recommend that you tighten them. The watch should not move all over your wrist as you wear them because that places a lot of stress on the links. Other then that, you are completely fine. The way Rolex makes the Oyster bracelets nowadays with the SELs, those bracelets will last for decades and decades. Great looking pics again! Thanks for sharing!
