Daytona fact or BS?

I have heard that Rolex makes 10K of the 4130 movements for the Daytona a year...

5k/yr for Gold

3.5k/yr for TT

1.5K/yr for SS

10K/yr total out of 750K to 1 million total watches produced per year...WOW

If this is true, no wonder the SS Daytona is less seen in the wild or at AD's.

Has anyone else heard this before? Fact or BS...

BS-Because no one really knows.
Rolex is VERY tight with ANY information. Speculation is exactly that.
I've seen articles and write ups about how many watches are produced by Rolex but we really don't know on any model.

Rolex is pretty tight lipped. I doubt we'll ever know exactly how many of one model they ever make. I have seen how many watches the send to COSC for testing, this at least give us an idea as to many watches they produce in a given year.

Since you have not provided your source, no one could tell you if it's fact or BS.

Besides, Rolex does not release this information.

Nobody has the facts from Rolex, but if there are 2000 AD's and each one gets 5 per year then Rolex makes 10000 Daytonas per year.

Just made up the numbers but it wouldn't be that hard to make an educated guess.

Myself only ever state anything unless its factional and don't deal in BS,only Rolex knows how many Daytona are produced each year. But world wide I am sure its more than we think, and would have thought they would make far more S.Steel than TT as the S.Steel vastly outsells the TT.

id just guess they make as many as they can sell , and dont publish figures so no one else knows just how many they do sell ,,, just shrewd business policy if you ask me ,,, who wants a unique watch , just like the million others.,,,, ok slight exageration , but you get the jist.

who knows its anyones guess. IMO they build for the demand. those numbers that you mentioned above seem reasonable since we are talking worldwide.

I don't believe 10k. Rolex complained Zenith could not supply enough movements and Zenith was supplying more than 10k.

I really doubt that the 1500/year for steel is correct. Here are a few reasons why:

-There are over 100 listed on ebay right now, more than I'd expect if only 1500/year were produced
-Big gray dealers can get one anytime you want
-I have seen seen them in small ADs that I don't believe would get them if there were only 1500/year

Nobody knows for sure but the best educated guess I've heard is circa 8,000 116520 sold per annum.

One thing is for sure, there are far more SS Daytonas than gold sold p/a. I'd even go so far as to say there are more SS Daytonas sold than TT.

The SS Daytonas sell more quickly than the TT, waiting list and all. The TTs sit in the window display and therefore appear "more common".

Might be true in total ,but i think they make ss the most and yg the least.how many ADs in the world?3-400?
I d doubt they got more than 5-10SS annual ,it s about 3-5k so it s approx the figures you are stating.
Please also not to forget 10k watches a lot there are highly reputated companies whose total sales not much more than that.
Anyhow it s the best chrono mvmnt avaliable these days.
