expandable oyster strap

Hi, i wonder if anyone knew something about this strap. it came off a 40's RAF watch (whether it was contemporary with the watch i have no idea). To me it looks identical to the WAB straps made in the UK for Rolex, but as you can see doesn't have the WAB stamp.

Any help would be appreciated.
