Seamaster Quartz 300M Questions
Hi all,
Just bought my first quartz watch! Went for the seamaster 300 m and very pleased with it. Does anyone know 1. How long with battery last 2 How long will the battery end of life indicator work for before the watch stops? Do you have this watch? And what are your observations? Is it accurate ? Thanks for your time |

Hello,
I have the SMP blue quartz one. I think the price is good for an Omega watch, and a nice version of the one worn in Casino Royale :D. At first i didnt like the waves but now i think if it weren't with the waves, it would have been boring and not unique, and am glad that the waves are only on this generation and it wont be available in the new ones. Makes yours unique. I didn't check the accuracy but i can tell you about the build, it's very tough that its on me almost 24/7 i swim, fish, shower, wear it while working out. It hit doorknobs, office tables and it still looks great, except for some scratches on the bracelet which added only but character and made the watch serve it's intended purpose that i bought it for "The perfect beater watch" |

I have a SMP quartz as well (the black one) and can only tell good things about it. It is as accurate as a quartz watch can be and despite what people will call its "poor" movement it is a very well built watch (I for one wear mine while working and can smash it on shelves without leaving a single scratch on the crystal). I don't regret buying it at all and think the price is very good (I bought mine pre-owned though, since they don't keep their value very well you can easily get them for half MSRP).
Now to answer your questions. 1. The battery will probably last around a year or more (according to what my friend, who's the owner of two SMP quartz watches, told me). 2. The battery end of life indicator will start about two weeks before your watch stops (from what I read, I would change it pretty much as soon as it starts though to avoid any misfortune).

what does the indicator look like? Isn't it 5 second jumps? Wow that was 11 years ago that I looked at the quartz...

One of my Omega watches is quartz. It is an Omega Seamaster Professional with a blue dial. The watch has what I think of as a "happy face". I enjoy wearing the watch and it often draws favorable comments from those who see it on my wrist.
I had the battery changed after 3 years just as a precaution. I don't know how long it would have lasted. Cheers, Bill P. |

The battery should last for 5 years> i'vehad mine since 1997 and every 5 years without fail it starts jumping (low battery indicator). Perfect reminder for a service....

I had the quartz bond watch for a few yrs before I decided to go Auto and sold it. I revamp my collection and got the full size auto which is still my weekend beater.
When the battery is running low, I recalled it hopped every 4 secs. Interesting thing about watch batteries. Factory batteries always seemed to run alot longer then replacement batteries. Maybe the factory batteries are fresher because of the turn-over, or maybe because replacment batteries have been sitting on the shelves for yrs at the jewelers. The original battery lasted for 5 yrs and the replacements needed to be changed every yr or so. |
