5 min markers on daytona's - some fat some big?

I have been interested in purchasing a daytona 18kt / ss white dial and I have noticed a difference in the 5 min markers in my findings...Some are fatter than others...For instance :

versus

Why is this and which models have the thin 5 min markers and which modeles have the fatter markers?

Thanks in advance,
David

The older models have the thinner markers. The newer have the wider markers.
In the two pictures you have posted the black dialed one, a 16523 with a 4030 movt, the white dialed a 116523 with a 4130 movt.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response you are a great help! Also another question...There is a bigger space between the coronet @ 12 position and the Rolex Oyster Perp under it compared to the older model where the letering is right under the coronet...Is that also a difference between the new and older models?

Yup. Reason is that the dial registers are bigger and are moved up a bit compared to the 3 and 9 markers.

Here is a nice link with a comparison between the "Zenith" Daytona (Cal. 4030/ref. 16520) and the new Daytona with in-house movement Cal. 4130 (ref. 116520):

And here is some dials to look at (NEW Daytonas):

And some "Zenith" Daytona dials (and Daytona dials in general):
