For me the DS is an amazing watch but it is just way too thick.

Sub for me.

Kyle (moby33) has some good insight into the relative differences.

He hasn't worn the DSSD much since buying his SubC.

always liked the deepsea, but everytime trying it on the wrist.. it's just way too thick for my wrist.

if you can pull it off, go for deepsea. it's a lot of watch.

Deepsea can really be uncomfortable if wearing it a lot. My buddy has the DSSD, I wore it for 1 day and it would get annoyying on many occasions.. much prefer my sub.

That's a matter of personal preference and possibly it wasn't sized for your wrist properly. Mine is so comfortable I forget I'm wearing it, but I think the trick is to wear it snug!

I have both watches.

Yes its true the DSSD is much thicker than the Sub and ever so rarely it does become a tad uncomfortable

....But....I would never change it... I love it and wear it on a daily basis....

For me, the SUB is a great watch but once you get used to the DSSD you just cant go back, unless its for a SUB-c TT

throw a sea dweller into the mix if your up in the air, it is a nice compromise between the two.

If you're a diver then the fully graduated bezel of the Deepsea is marginally more useful than the partially graduted bezel of the Submariner

Its got to be the deepsea for me, the clasp is far superior and the overall prescense of the watch, it is bound to be the one to keep for the futor, i still love the sub tho with its cyclops.

Judging by the date on the Sub methinks the DSSD is the prefered wearer

+1. I've owned all three (some multiple times-LOL)...the SubC is the only one I currently own. DSSD is awesome...if your wrist is <7.75 inches. Seadweller is excellent, but couldnt accept the hollow links after I purchased the SubC.

I thinks it's a very personal decision. You really have to see both in person and see which one "fits" you better. What "fits" you also can't be described in terms of physical dimensions since you may have more of a personal preference for larger watches than the next individual. I would definitely go see them in person side by side. Also take some time to think about it. I had to go try them both on more than a few times to see which one I wanted. Finally, I believe the the DSSD is about 33% more expensive than the SS Submariner if economics are a consideration. Obviously, both are great watches. You just need to see which one is better for YOU. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, I do personally like the bracelet features of the DSSD with its glide lock and diver extension flip lock features. Good luck!

Exactly. DSSD is a special watch, way overbuilt, a bit out of proportion (too thick, a bit top heavy, to much steel and not enough dial etc) but still, it is a superlative piece of engineering that is fun to wear. I wouldn't want it as my only watch though...

SubC? That is the watch that Steve Jobs would have built and shipped! :-)

Personally I can't think of a single advantage the SDDS has over the Submariner. Unless of course you dive well below 300 meters.
