Icon12 Optical Illusion!! Must try

Stare at the red dot for 30 seconds.

Then look at ceiling, wall, ect...preferably white and blink rapidly.

Pure amazement!

Yup, another case of the brain trying to compensate for our experiences. There is a good discovery show about this kind of thing. Explains why our brain does these tricks.

It's called image burn-in. You're burning the image into your retina, and seeing its inverse when you blink. You see her in color because the image IS in color. Her red-orange skin tone comes off as a desaturated blue-green in the inverted image.

The reason for the red dot is so that your eyes stay in the same relative position, and the image has a clear burn into your retina.

Not good to do this too long or too often. It's like leaving an image up on your Plasma screen for too long. (Talk about beer goggles!)
