I have a Rolex Submariner and I know they will not lose value. Im looking at a Breitling Super Avenger with aftermarket diamond bezel. Will this watch maintain its value? First time im looking at a Breitling. Thanks

IMHO certian breitlings hold their value in relative terms to the rest of the luxury market. I can tell you the resale value is not as strong as Rolex, but what is? I would caution against any watch with aftermarket parts. You severeley limit your buyers not to mention any warranty repairs or "factory" servicing. The best resale I see from breitling are the models with in house movements. I also see strong resale on the steelfish and seawolf. Hope this helps.

If you buy it at the right price (market price) you should not see much of a loss, or even a loss at all. Asking prices are mostly extremely optimistic, don't get hoodwinked.

If re-selling, you may have to wait a while for a buyer to come along since they are not quite a sought after as other watch models.

I have recently started to look at sa as well. I think buying used is the way to go.

I'd be wary of the diamond bezel. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, so it could be a difficult re-sell.

if you buy a SS breitling used at a decent price - you'll get your money back.
I just sold one of mine and it actually went up $1,000 in a few years -

however, aftermarket diamonds on ANY nice watch is throwing your money away.
If you like them, buy them, just don't expect to get anything back from it.

IMO - most people like myself would perfer a SS breitling over a blinged-out one, even if they were the same price.
Maxfli is right - limited audience if you ever resell

i agree,if you buy a used watch for less than 1/2 of original msrp you should be in good shape over time.breitling makes a beautiful stout timepiece with crisp designs.im not a fan of the diamonds.

I agree with the statements made here. I no longer buy blinged-out Breitlings. Not even my wholesalers will buy them. I've seen this market decline rapidly for the blinged-out sport watches. For the price of a custom-made diamond bezel far exceeds the value of the watch itself.

this is truth,if your going to buy blinged-out Breitlings you will take a hit make sure is something you want to keep for a while not just have and get rid of you will lose tremendously. Also you can see if you can find a stock bezel and do something with the diamonds when its time to get a new watch or upgrade.

Agree with everything stated. Wholesalers hate aftermarket diamonds. Get an authentic SA bezel to swap out for resale and you won't take too much of a hit. The cheap diamonds used in those aftermarket bezels are only worth as much as their scrap value at the time of selling it.

Authentic Breitling diamond bezels on the other hand (they come with their own certificate separate from the watch), due tend to hold their value quite well.

Depends on how you buy. If you buy new/MSRP without much of a discount, you'll lose a bunch of value that mostly like won't come back. If you get a great deal w/ a dealer or buy second-hand you should be in good shape and you could even get your money back down the line, or take a small, 'acceptable' loss.

The Super Avenger holds its value better than any other Breitling- there is a huge demand for it- but anything after market particularly diamonds will kill the value

as long as youre buying it used i think youre safe. the guy who got it new took the major hit. like others have said try and get an OEM bezel just in case you ever want to part with it.

The problem I see is the watch has been copied and cloned to death. Need something to hold value it has to be used. Deals take is 50% or more. Try to see the same watch a day later to an AD and it is 70% off MSRP
I have sold a few watches and always broke even or better by not paying too much
yet when I bought my Rolex, I wanted new. It was worth it to me. Buying used, I won't pay nearly the same.
