Bracelet question
Hello guys.
I want to put a fliplock bracelet on my Explorer II, as at the moment it has the older Oyster bracelet.Would it be possible to just change the clasp, or would the whole strap need changing? Last edited by Hammer; 25 October 2005 at 08:18 PM.. |

Cannot see why not. You can just change the clasp, bracelets are the same size.Explorer 11 has Oysterlock bracelet as
standard,so the fliplock clasp should fit,but not 100% sure

That's what i thought.Rolex say the whole bracelet would have to be changed, and i would be looking at about 300 pounds sterling! A bit steep if you ask me. |

If you are outside the USA I would tell you to ask an AD. If you go through Rolex directly they will tell you to buy the whole bracelet, an AD will hopefully just buy the clasp for you.

I spoke to an AD yesterday, who said the whole bracelet is different, as it is of a different weight, and he quoted just under £500.I think i may take a raincheck on this one.

Agreed. I'd recommend finding a decent watch maker with New Old Stock (or new stock) and retro fit it. It's a pretty simple switch. Look at Daren, who swapped the clasp on his Yachtmaster with the new type clasp only available on the Daytona... Rolex won't do it, but you can get the parts from a variety of sources and even do it yourself, if you're careful. |
