The Joy of Ownership

I have seen several variations on a theme repeated throughout the forum: 'There is no better feeling than having a Rolex on your wrist.'

I must say, before I procured my first and only Rolex, I did not fully understand this statement. I have many material possessions which I enjoy, but none of them offer quite the experience as my time piece. I think this has greatly to do with the fact that it is physically present on my body at all times, and I can always just look down and see this watch that represents so much for me.

So what are your thoughts? Months, years, or decades after you put on your first Rolex, does it still hold as much joy for you as it once did?

The wrist presence makes it a treat to wear an Oyster.

I can safely say that 4 1/2 decades later it still gives me the same joy every time I purchase a Rolex.

I like mine.

I bought my first one only three years ago or so, but I really appreciate the quality, durability, and reliability.

Dr. JBA, I believe in horology school they say a Rolex timepiece will cure many ailments and I must honestly say professors Ken, Steve, Paulie, Mike, Dalip, Peter and others were sorely wrong. I am still suffering from what is called Rolexploitation and I can't see myself getting better anytime soon (maybe after the 1655). To be honest I am still smitten with the simple Datejust I acquired on my honeymoon in 2005 today. To me any Rolex timepiece is timeless. S#!t reading your post on "that which cannot be named" always has me saying and believing that a timepiece is an emotional object that always conjures up grand memories to the beholder... Enough of my ranting. Carry on

After over a year of owning, I think I'm just as much if not MORE obsessed with my watch and Rolex in general. I'm already plotting out my next buy. It's a great feeling but an awfully expensive addiction :)

Since getting mine last month, it hasn't come off my wrist. It's really a good feeling, and I catch myself just staring at my wrist very often.

I own a drawer full, and I love wearing each and every one of them. I get giddy at the thought of getting another, no matter if it be an AK or a DD. Rolex holds up, where other brands get cold over time.

The dilutive effect of having a number of nice watch brands means that my happiness is no longer associated with a specific watch/brand and more about my good fortune in being able to enjoy such fine timepieces.

Going on only a couple years of ownership, but I'm still smiling.
