What to get next. I'm on the fence...
Those of you who know me, from other forums perhaps, know that I'm a flipper. That said, I've tried to live with just one watch and C-Sub I had recently came close, but no cigar in the end again, as I am itching for something different. It's a fantastic watch and perhaps I should have kept it...hopefully I won't buy a third one (I had two of them now).
So, I'm 99.9% sold on the Deepsea, but I have been giving this some more thought. Waiting a couple of weeks for my preferred dealer to get his Deepsea in stock....waiting is hard for me, but I think I can make it that long. Cool watch, size isn't too much of a concern...I've got big wrists. (net pics below, not my own) I did like that new Explorer 2 a lot, and the only thing holding me back is that it does not have a rotating bezel. That said, I could and would use the GMT function with some frequency, and the matte black dial was a perfect background for the Orange script and hand. Hmmm... Then again, I could get a new PO chrono, and it has the jumping hour hand just like a GMT watch, and also has a chrono that can be used as a second timezone, while being water resistant. Slightly larger diameter than the DSSD, but just as thick. And finally, perhaps the shocker in all this, I do still kind of prefer the old classic case of the Sub with the chamfered lugs, and while I've had vintage no date Subs, I have never had a new style 14060M. I love the drilled through lugs case. Also, the latest COSC version comes with the new mainspring, which arguably makes this best value in the current Rolex sports watch line. No worrying about breaking a ceramic bezel. There's something to be said for keeping it simple. So, while I'm a bit unsure, I'm sure of one thing. I don't want to buy something I've already owned before. It has to be something different. Should I just wait for that Deepsea I have on order?

Have you considered the GMTIIC?
What exactly didn't you like about the SUBC, as this might make it easier to help you.

Hey JP:
Funny, but your comment on the Dive Watch Forum are what convinced me to add the SubC to the mix. An now you are flipping it??? I really would advise you to stick with an elapsed time bezel. I have an Ex II 16570 which I love, but I really missed being able to time things with the bezel. In my mind, that would require kicking the new EXII 42 out of the mix. I know you are a big enough guy to pull off either the Deepsea or PO chrono with ease. The only question is whether you can stand not having the Rolex. As far as I know, Omega did not engineer a micro adjustable bracelet into their new line. After having the SubC, I think you will be frustrated with anything else. I do not see you going the 14060 route after having the SubC. Older clasp??? No date???? Less lume???? Just doesn't sound like you.

The SubC is an awesome watch. I can't really complain about a thing. Not to take anything away from the SubC, but I guess I just want something a bit less common. Maybe I should kick the idea of a new watch and get a nice pre-loved Pepsi GMT II with drilled lugs....oye.... forget I said anything...lol....I'm so friggin' confused...

If you are a flipper why not close your eyes and pick one. You'll just end up flipping it later to get the others you didn't pick

If you can pull it off I would go DSSD. Otherwise number 2 would be the 14060.

Well I have both the black dial Explorer 42 and the Deepsea and love them both. I dont think you can go wrong with either IMHO. Sorry I am no help at all but I would of course stick with Rolex.
As for the ND, a beautiful watch but would need to be a 2nd/3rd/4th for me without the date

If you have a big wrist, the DSSD it is.
I am lucky, I have a small wrist and enjoy the 14060M a lot :D

I just returned from my favorite Omega AD. Had to see the PO chrono in person. It looked fantastic, I have to admit.
It's big, it's heavy, it's has a nice large dial. Probably great lume too (didn't get to test it). The band has no fine adjustment, but it fit me just right without sizing it. There is a half link that can be removed. But, perhaps it's karma, the bezel pip was slightly misaligned. They said they could get me a different one. I did like the jumping our hand, but I'm still not sure about whether to go with this one or not. 60 hours power reserve was also impressive. This is a heck of nice watch. Still, I didn't buy it. The Deepsea has a nicer bezel action. For some reason, as thick as it is, it didn't seem as top heavy as the PO was when I tried it on. Here's a snap I took while at the AD. I was mighty tempted, I tell ya'...

All are great choices, I like the Sub ND - it's a classic! Best wishes on your selection. It's a tough decision to make.

Maybe take a look at my signature. Btw, we are only talking about one specific omega. Was it the speedy, it would be near the top ofmy list.

Seems you're heart's set on the DSSD. If so, wait for it. If not, why not try one of the reputable sellers here. You can have it tomorrow.
Good luck! |

If you haven't seen the Deepsea in person, I would wait to do so before making any type of decision. I think that people see it in person and either fall in love with it or think it is a complete joke because of its size. You'll be able to figure out which camp you're in if you wait to see it in person. Good luck. Seems like you've got nice options from which to pick.

I used to say the planet ocean was no-brainer over a deepsea, due to cost.
However, Omega has raised their prices so much over the last year, it's not as clear cut. It is nice to have a chorno, GMT, and date on one watch. Something you'll never get from rolex. However, if you really are going to use the GMT function, I can't see why you would like the explorer over the GMT-IIC |
