GMT 11c or Submariner C

With all the knowledge about Rolex on this forum I would welcome advice please. I am seriously thinking of buying either the Black and Gold TT version of the GMTii C or Submariner C. I am not a diver, to old to start now! I travel a little but not alot. Which watch is best for residuals and in your opinions which looks best on the wrist. Photos would be great as a comparision. Thanks Alan

My vote goes to the TT GMTIIC. Best looking TT of the current line up in my opinion.

Between the two. I would go with the GMT.

If SS, I'd go with the SubC. But like dddrees said, the TT GMTc is one of the best looking TT in the current Rolex line up.

I have the TT SubC with the blue dial and looks great but i think in the black TT the GMTc looks nicer than the black TT SubC IMO.

I second this sentiment completely. Love my SubC!

In SS, I would definitely choose the Sub C; however in TT, the new GMTIIC is one beautiful watch. You can't go wrong either way. Good luck in your search!

I have the SS GMTiic. I got it because there was no Sub c out at the time I purchased. Now that I have the GMT, I`m SOOOOOOO glad that I didn`t wait for the Sub. Just for the record, Rolex don`t make a bad looking watch( unless you look at some of their extreme designs) and the Sub c is no exception. However, nothing is more beautiful than the GMT iic and in my opinion it is the most attractive watch that Rolex make.

Not to hijack the OP's question, but your response struck me personally. I've got the opposite dilemma of the OP. I'm a first-time buyer and have narrowed my selection down to the SS GMT IIc (with green second hand) or TT Sub 116613 in black/gold.

Those of you that like the black/gold combo in the GMT II better than the Sub: Why is that? It comes down to personal feeling, I suppose, but the Sub looked less flashy in gold to me, given that the bezel markers are at the 10's versus the evens up to 22. As a relatively younger guy (32), I'm mindful of not being too flashy and YG, in my opinion, can cause that if not worn in moderation. The 116613 seemed like the perfect mix. Given my career and the position I am in, sending the "I have arrived" message with my watch could be poorly received by clients and colleagues alike.

I'm hoping someone can help me see more angles as I consider my purchase.

Wow That is one sweet watch. I think the majority of The Rolex experts who replied seem in favour of the TT GMTii and looking at this photo, I think I agree with you.

I too am a 30 year old first time buyer purchasing very soon. I'm going with the IIC SS. I do believe that the TT IIC is the best looking TT watch in the Rolex line up. It's stunning. For me, it has a more symmetrical, more complete look. Just beautiful. The TT Subc black dial isn't far behind. There is a gentleman in the "your rolex and your attire" thread with a TT Subc which looks amazing.

Can go wrong either way

I prefer the SS models. In this case, the SubC's got my vote.

Would you rather be able to time your steaks on the grill or know what time it is on your favorite beach when the weather is absolute $%@ at home?

Me - steaks on the grill so SubC.

GMT TT and a Hickory Farms Summer Sausage & Cheese gift pack.

That's a winning combination.

Sorry Craig, what watch did you choose? I was too amazed by the food to read properly...

GMT for me, it looks wonderful in TT and since you have a PO I think it would be a better choice than another diver's watch.
