Planning on spoiling your lady or is this a gift so you can get yourself another one..... .....hmmm.
From what I've seen lately many women prefer the larger watches so anything between 34mm and 40mm would probably be appropriate. They are much easier to read and I think the larger watches look great on a ladies' wrist..... So spill the beans...what's your ulterior motive???

I don't think there are any bracelet options in 34mm but the oyster (Air-King and Date are the only 34mm made by Rolex). One of the reasons I sold my Date was that I found the oyster bracelet uncomfortable.

I love look of the oyster. I do want it to be comfy on her. She is tiny and fit like you. Do u think a loose fit would be better? |

Most of the gals here like the oyster bracelet just fine. Maybe I have a weird shaped wrist. Also, I wonder if the comfort problem had something to do with the clasp, too - it's sort of long if you have a small wrist. I remember the clasp did tend to dig a little. The jubilee bracelet on my DJ is really so much more comfy. But I understand, some people just don't like the look of it. Will she be in on the purchase decision, or are you planning to surprise her with it? |

they look great on the ladies!!!1
Lisa, this will be a surprise.. I know she will like whatever I get her. She is tiny, a fitness competitor and a big watch will fit her personality. If it is uncomfortable on her, we will just have to get a second sometime down the road.. It may be a bit as I have some shopping to do but I will post a pic.. Thanks everyone for your help.. |

The 31mm Datejust on a jubilee would work well also. It'd just about float on the wrist,
Personal preference, but seeing how my wife has stuck with the same 26mm Seiko from college on, getting her to think larger has not happened. The one time I took her into a showroom to look at size and bezel options, the salesgal did the exact opposite of what I had "set up" only a few minutes earlier. Instead of a gentle, "lets compare this watch to that watch", so I could gauge my wife's interests in the different styles, the salesgal went for a sale, on the spot. Things went from confused to worse, and we have not been back to an AD since. What size does she wear now? Does she even wear a watch? I'd be safe with a 26mm to 31mm with-or-without date, jubilee, easy-to-read dial. If I was ever inclined to buy the missus a watch without her picking it out. |

You could always take her current watch and measure the circumference and have the watch ready(already adjusted with the right amount of links) and waiting at the AD so all she has to do is go into the store and put it on. When I bought my wife a diamond ring at the same AD I buy my watches and rings from I had this exact scenario set up. I drove her to the store as a surprise and steered her to the Hearts On fire ring display and had the sales lady(who was in on the surprise)pull the ring out...she put it on... I asked her if she liked it and when she said Yes...I said it is yours now and she teared up and accepted!!!

My wife have small wrist, it took alot of convincing for her take the newer 31mm as she already have a 26mm Datejust. I don't think she will go for the 34mm let alone the 36mm.
