Jeremy Lin v. Kobe Tonight @ Madison Square Garden

I'm sure many of you are aware of the latest unlikely hero in the NBA, Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin out of Harvard. He took the league by storm, averaging 25 points during his first 3 games as a starter. Last guys to do that were Lebron and Isiah. Lets root for Jeremy Lin tonight as he faces his biggest test yet, going up against Kobe and Derek Fisher.

Lets root for him not because of (or despite) your NBA team affiliation(s), but because he's the underdog, because he's genuinely a nice guy, and because he is forced to carry such a big load on his shoulders being the first Asian-American baller!

I like the Lin story but Kobe is going to school him tonight. He had a nice three game run but tonight will not be easy. Lin definitely has a bright future though if he can keep this up.

Scary thought. I remember Kobe schooling Allen Iverson years ago when Iverson started getting a lot of attention.

What will probably happen is, Derek Fisher's going to guard him. He's going to outplay "Geriatric Fisher"... at which point they will put Kobe on him. Kobe will thereupon school him. Still, I'm hoping for a miracle! Go Jeremy!!

I have to admit it would be pretty sweet to see Lin hit a couple on Kobe! Should be a fun game to watch.

Oh I am a Knicks fan as well. I hope Lin does have a good game. Just saying if Kobe is matched up against Lin he is going to have a tough night.

Lakers would be showing this young kid an enormous, unprecedented amount of respect by putting Kobe on him and/or trying to double team him in any way.

Same here! What I thought would be a golden season is turning out to be a National Lampoon movie in real life! It should be a fun night seeing Kobe tonight!

I'm an Orlando Magics fan, but my boys and I will be rooting for Lin when the Knicks come to town.

Btw, look at the knicks' front page on nba.com :

Lin still has a lot to prove, he is only played 2 - 3 games under Knicks, and so far so good. But still a long way to go. He has to prove that he can be consistent.

What a better time to prove consistency than to play well against the Lakers tonight. I'm hoping he can be consistent based on his intangibles. His court vision is phenomenal, worthy of comparison to Steve Nash. His leadership and intellectual quickness, also A1. Those things won't change.

The last Asian athlete who thrived on intangibles while lacking in athleticism was tennis star Michael Chang.

And of course, Steve Nash has never been known for athleticism.

Michael Chang was an inspiration.

We can still have the best of both worlds: Lin plays very well, Lakers win!!!

I'm looking forward to the game. Jeremy Lin wasn't on the radar of the first few teams he played against, now he is. From what I've seen I think he's for real and this will be a good test.

Hahaha... Lin got 10 points in 9 minutes of play. Bryant 6, Fisher 2. The espn announcer said after the commercial break: "... now let's go back to Jeremy Lin Garden"

Hmmm... end of 3rd quarter, I wouldn't say he has been schooled yet...

ESPN analysts spent the entire half time talking about him.

He looks like Dwayne Wade making those impossible shots in awkward positions... falling backward..

Fan-damn-tastic. I love the fact that all that talking Kobe did about Lin backfired. Awesome.

Who's Cobie Briant? Sounds familiar, but I'm not sure if I've seen him play... at least not tonight.

Asian-Americans get the last laugh. They have historically been the dispossessed and the unpreferred. Lin has always been this good. We just didn't know because no one ever gave him a chance because he's Asian. It took 3 Knicks starters being put out of commission, i.e., all the stars had to line up, before Lin got a chance to prove himself.
