Dear Experts: Need Help with GMTIIC Deal.
While shopping around, I found a seller that is offering to sell me a GMT Ceramic SS BRAND NEW NEVER WORN for $6,500.
He claims to have the Box, Warranty Papers and all tags ETC that comes with the watch. I will meet with him tomorrow to check it out. My concern is that the watch is an M serial, which I think belongs to a 2008 year. The seller says he purchased the watch last week and an incredible discount from a Jared's Jewelry up north that is loosing their Rolex license and was liquidating. Does this sound right? If all checks out, is it a good deal? Last edited by sspeedy2012; 16 February 2012 at 01:51 PM.. Reason: typo |

That is all very possible. Meet him tomorrow but if you are paying cash i woudl try and get him down another 5% personally to a max of $6250

You SHOULD be able to get an AD to do $6,700ish. Sounds a little risky to save $200.

I don't think the price is too bad but it probably wouldn't do any harm to bargain a little bit, you could be able to have a better deal. As for the watch being made in 2008 I personally think it's very possible for an AD to keep a watch that long.

My AD offers that watch at 7100 the LOWEST. So I wouldnt buy it at my AD, I would look around.

If the watch is truly unworn, and the papers are dated last week, then I think $6500 is a great price. Plus you are saving on the sales tax. Keep us posted on your progress.

If it's truly brand new and never worn and if it comes intact with everything (and with the warranty card consistent with his story of buying it new last week) then $6500 sounds like a good price to me.

Yes sounds good however with a relationship with an AD this should be easily achieved as well and also on a newer serial if this is important to you!

A family friend works at the local Jared (in my neck of the woods) and confirmed that the GMTIIC started out at 15% back in October of 2011 when the liquidation sale began; however, they still had one left in stock on February 1st and a new price list was released for the final closeout. It sold last week for $4850 (plus tax). I was actually checking out next to the guy that sniped it from me:)

Nice watch. I would have kept mine, but didn't like the way the PCLs scratched, so flipped it for a LVc.

Exactly I find it hard to believe SS Sports models ever get a bigger discount than 15%. The Jareds I went to in FL when they lost the AD had every model but the SS models marked down. Some of the all gold and 2 tones were 30% to 40% off. |

That's about what used ones are going for. So although it's not a great deal it's Ok, even better if BNIB.
