Buying first Rolex / Questions
Hi Chaps,
Well I'm old enough now to be able to afford my first Rolex, and I've started the process of looking at watches I like. I originally had my heart set on a Submariner, but since looking at the Daytona, I'm starting to sway towards one of those.. I'm also passing through several countries on my way home to Australia in the next few weeks, so I do have some options where to buy... I've got several questions for you gurus out there.. First, where I am right now (Philippines) there is an authorised dealer. Prices are too high here compared to anywhere else, but I've had a chance to look at just about everything in the rolex catalogue. What has me really confused though, is that I'm seeing other styles available here that are not on the catalogue. For example, there is a gold bezelled, silver dialled daytona with the black chrono sub clocks (The one with the leather strap on Rolexes website), but it's sold with the two-tone gold/stainless steel bracelet. The one on the website has gold ringed chrono clocks with silver inserts. Do rolex do multiple combinations not shown on their website? I presume if it is a mix and match I should steer clear for future value reasons? My second question is easier... Since there are so many I like (full stainless with white face), two tone with silver face, two tone with silver face/black chrono clocks and leather strap - which one am I best getting for future desirability/resale? I'm not worried about paying the extra price for the two-tone, I just want to make sure I get something with future collectibility/desire since I'm not going to get too many chances to buy too many of these in the future. Thanks fellas, enjoyed reading all the threads. |
