Daytona Issue

Not sure if this has been discussed previously so here goes the problem which I am facing.

Acquired a new Daytona recently and observed that the watch didn't start after 25-30 round of manual winding. Watch only start ticking after I start the chronograph function.

Initially I thought it could be the case of the watch being new and hence not "broken in". So after the watch has drained its power reserve, I manual wound it again to see if it can start ticking. After 30 rounds of winding as well as shaking the watch, nothing happened... watch only started ticking after I activated the chronograph function

Only saving grace is such that the watch is tracking time well within COSC standards.

Did anyone have the similar issue with the Daytona?
Would you bring it to RSC for inspection?

Thanks in advance

It is a mechanical machine. The action you describe is normal from time-to-time..

how many times of manual winding should we perform on the watch when it is new?

Not to state the obvious, but are you looking at the correct "hand"? Just checking if you are looking at the seconds dial and not the chrono hand.

+1. That's the first thing that came to mind...

I'm thinking this is the winner. OP do you know how a chrono works?

Could not agree more I would put money on the fact that this is exactly what is happening here...

My Daytona's second hand starts moving after about 12-15 turns. My 2-C needs close to 30 turns to get going.

You guys are evil and funny

Though I guess it could be true that some new Daytona (or chronograph) buyers may struggle to be familiar with the watch

This is actually my second Daytona, having own the first for a year before selling it. Manual winding didn't manage to get the watch started so I presume there could be some mechanical problems with the watch.

Will monitor further and probably leave it alone rather than sending to RSC if there's no other problem.

Thanks

Patrick, please keep us updated. I had my new DSSD regulate at the RSC here in Singapore and they did a great job, just to let you know. My experience is that new watches take a bit to get started, so I would give it some time before any concern.

X2

What the OP described will happen from time to time. Don't worry about it. It has happened to me on a number of my watches.

try running in your new watch for a week or two so that the lubrication can spread well and even throughout the movement
it should be fine by then
otherwise seek help from rsc

Yeah that's waht came to mind for me too that you weren't noticing the small seconds hand moving but obviously the watch was wound because when you hit the pusher it started the chrono hand.

Since that's not the case I would definitely have RSC look at it. I once owned a Daytona and that definitely didn't happen. Once I wound it, the seconds hand on the subdial would start to spin.

Good luck and keep us updated!

RSC's on Orchard Road....I love the fact that they let watch the technicians at work through the glass windows. Service there is fantastic! Hope u get your watch up and running!
