Explorer 2 on Leather...where to buy and how?

I know some info has been posted on this that I have read.

I want to know if you guys recommend where to buy a strap but I want it without end links (think thats what they are called) and what size strap?. Want it as in the 2 pictures below. And can any decent watch shop do this for me?

Not wanting end links are not a problem. I guess the size is 20 mm.

If you don't want end links you're in luck, any 20mm strap will work, just pick one you like. Once you find one either put it on yourself, takes about two minutes, or have a watchmaker do it for you.

I intend to make the explorer 1 my next purchase and put a dark brown Toshi strap on it. The ultimate stealth rolex, Anyone have pictures of this combo, or similar?

Straps are readily available for not much money. One that looks like some of these pictures is the Hirsch Liberty in black or tan. Probably under $50. If you haven't bought straps online before, you might try to search ebay for Hadley Roma or Hirsch-- then just start searching. For a "flat" profile strap like the Liberty, you probably want 4mm thick. With padded straps that get thinner at the edges, you can go a bit thicker-- 5mm to 5.5mm.

Pm the owners of the pics. Ask them where they bought it from.
If you want end links you have to source them, so as stated by others your in luck. If you take the bracelet off and purchase exact ones shown it will look just as the pictures.

The explorer II, especially white, goes well better with leather than any other Rolex, IMO.

I like the Breitling leather straps myself. You can just make out the stitches on the bottom right of the photo below. Really comfortable, and very durable. They last a good long time.

Just do a search for "Breitling Leather straps" if interested, and you'll find lots of hits, and there's a place called Panatime that sells what look to be nice Breitling-like straps for a fraction of the price.

Here's my two Explorer's on leather straps. Both straps purchased at www.thetimetraveler.co where you can find both suede nato and 2pcs vintage leather straps.

For leather, I encourage you to go with one of the custom strap makers like the aforementioned Toshi or Vintager. Two other good options are Greg Stevens and Stone Creek.

The black strap in your second photo is owned by one of our members and I seem to recall a post telling where to buy them. A little searching should lead you to it.

I like the Hirsch Leonardo straps that have a curved end and fit up against the case, so you don't have a gap there...

Larry - I agree. They do look nicer against the watch head.

To the OP - here's a link to view them > Hirsch Leonardo Curved End Straps

I believe the black strap in the OP's second picture is a Eulit perlon strap which can be purchased here: http://www.yellys.ch/zub/zub-eulit.html
