NEW Arrival: DSSD King (Prince) of the Deep

Hi guys,
The FedEx truck pulled up around 9:45 this morning with a delivery from DavidSW. This is a watch that I have been thinking about for a long time, and finally decided to pull the trigger on.

It is (even more than the HULK) a watch that you cannot just hang over your wrist at the AD and form any type of opinion on. It requires proper sizing (removal of the wetsuit extension) and a test drive in the wild.

So far, I am very, very impressed. First...the size of the box. It was the biggest beautiful green Rolex box I have ever seen. In the picture I have it next to the box that came with my 116610LV. It is a box truly fitting for the King of the Deep.

After opening up this massive box, I was awestruck at the domed crystal the subtle nature of the writing on the dial, the beautiful shiny bezel, the dark titanium case back and best of all the DSSD version of the Glidelock. It is certainly a large watch, but not as daunting in person as I had feared. I am used to wearing PAMs and think this watch looks absolutely amazing. The case back is flatter than my Sub Cs and the watch seems to wear more comfortably than my 116613LN. With one link and the diver's extension removed it weighs in at a whopping 210 grams.

So far...I am definitely in LOVE
(I will be sure to post a follow up review in a couple weeks!)

Thanks Patrick! I finalized the deal the day that James Cameron hit the bottom (in a good way). I am loving this watch so far!

Thanks Mike! The only one left on my list is the RG Daytona. Although I am sure you will beat me to it...I am gonna just savor this one for a while.

Thanks Sam! This one is the Prince (a.k.a. Jacques Piccard). I have renamed my 116613LB Peyton Manning and 116610LV is now known as Ray Allen. Thank you for introducing me to the whole "naming" concept! I love it...

Congrats, love my DSSD! One question, what are the benefits of removing the wetsuit extension?

The wetsuit extension has a length equivalent to two normal links. It is a tip that I have heard quite a bit about around the forums and Dalip confirmed that he found it to offer the best fit.

Here is a post explaining it in greater detail:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=163994

By removing it, it allows the bracelet to conform to the shape of your wrist a little bit better and results in a more comfortable fit. If your wrist is bigger than mine, you can replace it with one or two normal links. It is extremely comfortable in this configuration.

The DSSD is growing on me. I wish I could try one on. No AD within 125 miles of me.

Thanks Patrick! I am amazed how comfortable it is. Believe it or not I only have a 6.75" wrist, but it is very flat and seems perfectly suited to the DSSD. I am thrilled with it.
