Do you guys think Rolex Price has reached the ceiling?

I don't think Rolex will increase price for a long time.

They have reached a point where high-end brands' watches look more attractive.

Do you guys think that there will be a price increase any time soon? Looking at how they increased dealer price by 3%, I doubt it

There will be an increase by the end of the year. Get used to it. Don't know when it's coming but it is. I've been looking at APs and PPs lately. My next watch will be an AP. There is a huge difference between $10k and $30k for a SS watch. Rolex has a long way to go to price them up there with the very high end brands.

no ceiling

not so much increases in prices as decreases in fiat currency value

Not this year according to currency valuation in my opinion.

Next year all bets are off.

I also think we will see an increase this year in fact I would think in the next few months... I do believe the % amount will be less but an increase the same.

To answer your question no I do not feel as if Rolex has "hit the ceiling"

When the products stop selling, that's when the ceiling has been reached.

Yep, if Rolex won't invest more on R&D (not like the Sky-Dweller) with something that is significant to the market (Deepsea Challenge) instead of updating any previous models will keep me staying. Otherwise, Tudor will make a comeback to hit big the older brother!

I will go with AP for the similar price with better reputation.

If this forum was about in 1980 the same question would have been asked and the same speculation would occur. So long as there's global growth and inflation and Rolex maintain there brand then I see no reason for the ceiling. Rolex have to be expensive to maintain the brand, imagine if they never rose in price.

Nope. Other watch houses also has annual price increase also.

They seem to be more attractive by price because they can be heavily discounted and it's resale isn't all the great. That's the difference.

There will always be a price increase. Always! You just have to wait for it :D I think it would be more accurate to ask how many times will Rolex increase prices in a year LOL

Nope. IMHO Rolex is chasing AP, and eventually will reach their level of pricing. So there's still a lot of "room" left I'm afraid...

I think Rolex has gone boyond the roof but I don't think it'll stop there.

But if I wanted a particular Rolex model I don't think price will stop me from getting it, it'll just take longer if it's really expensive

No. Other brands increase prices regularly as well. The only way to stop them is to stop buying.

I highly doubt it. That would mean Sub C priced at $15200 (the same as AP ROO Diver).

In 1972 the brand new steel Royal Oak cost 11 times more than the Sub back then. Now the current steel Royal Oak cost only 2 times more than the 116610LN. With that pace Rolex watches will be more expensive than AP watches in a decade.

I'm not saying Rolex would switch to manufacture methods or haute horlogerie movement finishing. All I'm saying is that they want Rolex watches to be priced the same level as AP.

I think we can all bet on price increase at some point in the future. That is what Rolex does.

As many stated - as long as people buy at that price point I do not see Rolex changing their strategy. I think it is cool what they do with James Cameron and NG. Now that we don't fly to the moon at least we can explore what's under the ocean. My 6 yrs old son thinks it is cool too ;-).

If that ever happened, a lot of people would buy AP or Patek or other brands that priced more reasonable instead. We will see in a decade. :)

For Rolex, Sky is the limit. Unless Rolex can reach the sky, otherwise prices will only go up.

Rolex will never catch AP/Patek in pricing, nor should they try to. They know what their market is and they will stick to it. Whatever increases made by Rolex will usually be matched throughout the watch industry and maintain the pricing pyramid. There is always a ceiling, but we're not there yet.

I guess Rolex increases yearly prices with 3 % . . .
And they are doing it for years . .
So where's the limit ?
Only fools like us pay these prices ;-)

By what scientific reasoning do you draw this hypothesis?

same question have been raised back in the 70s... back then a $500 watch is expensive. but then again people earn like i dont know $1 per hour? 40 years from now when salaries are high enough a 15k watch would be just normal. I guess the value of the dollar is going down... INFLATION
