116610LV Green Gold Dial

I heard that this is green coating on a gold dial.

Is this just a rolex's marketing strategy for the green version of blue dial used in 16613?

Or is it somewhat totally different dial?

What is a green version of a blue dial ?

Your question makes no sense.

Alright I didn't make sense. I was to say if the green dial on sub c lv is simply a green variation of the blue dial used in 16613

The dials are not gold.. The blue dial on the older 16613 in your photo and the new 116610LV are brass dials that are painted..

The "Green Gold" dial of the new 116610LV is said to be a unique painting method, using gold in the process, to give it it's lustre and name.. But it's still paint over brass..

I think he is asking if the dial on the SubcLV is made of gold but painted green. Similar to the blue dialed submariner in the picture posted.

The answer is yes......at least according to my AD. The subcLV dial is gold.

Was that what you were asking? I dont want to assume.

You can call it what you like but its still blue paint on a brass dial, and only gold parts on the dial are the surrounds on the hour markers but weight wise a very very small amount of 18Ct.

Your dial on the blue sub is just painted colour blue on brass, on the green dial sub the dial is a mainly Aluminum disc but they apply a mixture of gold powder and aluminium powder to get the shade of green its very similar to PVD coating to dial but its not solid gold if it was it would have to be hallmarked. And at one time Rolex did advertise it as being green gold on there web site. But it was soon removed as you cannot state anything thats gold unless its real solid gold like say 9Ct,15Ct,18Ct,22Ct, etc.And if over a certain weight because of the laws in many countries the dial would have to bare a assay mark.

Just read down the text in the picture below.
