Wow, I just found this 1972 GMT package today

so, i went into my little local watchmaker this morning. not really looking to buy anything and i asked him if he ever gets rolexes or tudor for sale. he puts this 3.4M GMT 1675 into my hand and says make me an offer... i offer him $3500 for it and we agree. it has a folder 7836 and no deployment bracelet. after he opens it and i inspect it, he says how nice i am and he hands me all the papers for the watch. the warranty certificate. all the booklets. says he will warrant the watch for a year.

what do you guys think? could this be the original band? the booklet enclosed actually shows a folded 7836. the papers are signed 1977.

what is the fair value of this package? i think i did well, but i think its realistically worth $4500. what do you guys think?

my snowflake sub is going to get less wrist time in the coming days.

Harry

Vey well done indeed! You should go out and source the correct late 70's vintage roles sports box for the watch and complete the set!

Looks to be a good deal. I'm a bit suspicious of the Rolex guarantee paperwork. I'm under the impression that it should be punched with the serial number, rather than handwritten.

Thanks guys for all your kind words. i hope you all have a great holiday weekend and a happy Easter.

i was pretty shocked when he just handed me all the papers that went with it. This is the third set of papers that i have had from the late 70s from area Montreal and Toronto ADs that were filled out by hand. i agree its somewhat crude and hokey. i am friendly with the AD who's name is on the paperwork, so i will pay him a visit with it for fun.

i just love that all the hand and dial luminous match. i have never owned a watch that did. plus the bezel is faded a bit. typical; only one side has visible chamfer/case bevels.

anyway, thanks again,

Harry

I'll go in a shOp this week and ask if they don't have any rolexes for sale... Who knows...the owner might just drop his vintage daytona in my hand for a bargain...?

Congrats, it's a great deal !

Happy Easter
