5513 - No Rolex crown sign on dial ? Info requested
Does anyone have some info on the Rolex 5513 without a Rolex crown sign on the dial ?
Genuine Rolex or a great fake ones ? What is says on the dial : ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL 200m=660ft SUBMARINER That's it : no Rolex crown on the dial, just text Owner told me it is a 'custom dial' Serial 2.8xx.xxx (so from around 1969 according to him, but more 1970-71 for me) Thanks for sharing the info |

I think that serial would put the watch closer to 1973, and then the dial would more likely be ft. first.
The dial could be redone/aftermarket, do you have any pictures, the guys here are really clued up on the variations. |

Poor redial. Look at the 12 triangle.

Shame about the dial, the rest of the watch and the bracelet look fantastic! If you can get it for a good price it could be worth the purchase and trying to find a correct dial (though matching that lovely tritium is going to be tough).

Owner told me it is a 'custom dial'...............this means it was not made by Rolex and as others have said its a redial or a custom made dial but NOT original Rolex dial

This watch is going downhill fast, except the writing which appears to be going uphill.

IMHO The Problem with watches like this is one can assume if someone changed/refinished the dial, one of the most significant parts aesthetically, so poorly most likely anything else that has been changed was also done poorly. Just my thoughts...
Unless, the watch is $1500-2000 I would run away.

Bad redial. A correct dial will run you about $700-$900 USD. The period correct dial for a 2.8mil 5513 would be a feet first dial

I know . . . . .
People always think they have a fortune in their hand when it says Rolex . . Unfortunately . . . If I would make an offer I would go for $ 1500.00 That's a comfortable price for me . . . a price that doesn't would make me feel like "why did I paid this amount . . . unbelievable I made such an error at that time" ;-) PS : your avatar a 911 RS '73 2.7 Lightweight M471 ? |

Hi new here , just inherited a box full of old watches and found a small ladies watch with no markings on the face, but opens front and rear on hinges, marked up as a Rolex and gold stamps with 1111732 in lid and on workings Rolex 15 jewels and Swiss made.
How can i identify this watch? Regards Paul. |
