14060M no-date Sub - need AD recommendation

Now that the 14060M no-date Submariner has been discontinued, I am thinking about purchasing a new one, if available. I know we have many great pre-owned Sub sellers here on the forums (and I may go this route) but if any of you know of a USA-based authorized dealer that you would highly recommend, please let me know (PM is fine if that's your preference).

Also, for those that own a 14060M no-date, what are your thoughts on the bracelet and clasp? I like the lug holes, clean dial, and throwback style but some have suggested that the lack of solid end links and different clasp make this model less desirable than other Subs, such as the classic 16610 Sub-Date. I haven't compared the two, so would appreciate your input.

I once wore a friends fake rolex, and I have to say, the bracelet on that was more substantial than the hollow linked bracelet on the 14060.
That said, I love my 14060m. The hollow bracelet is so light weight that the watch is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I like this minimalist aspect of the watch. The clasp is thin, but lightweight and when secure, short of the spring bars breaking, the watch isn't going anywhere.

I love the 14060m, it is THE iconic sports watch.

Like Levi's 501, Coca-Cola, Rayban aviators or wayfarers, Porsche 911... its got history and timeless presence.

I love the bracelet. Light weight, good looking, easy to ditch/don. Has protected many a Rolex for many years from falling off the wrist. More that strong enough for the job.

I am able to desire the 14060 Submariner without difficulty.

The classic bracelet is great but it does have one design flaw: there are more removable links on the 12 o'clock side, so if you've got small wrists and you remove all or most of the links, the clasp will be off-center. The remedy is to remove one of the permanent links that Rolex should have made removable in the first place.

The removal process is somewhat medieval and is probably best left to your watchmaker.

The bracelet and clasp is light but that just makes it extremely comfortable. It is one tough watch, lets face it, it is the ultimate sport watch for over 60 years.

Best of luck with the search.

I've had mine for about 2 years and I find the bracelet to be very comfortable. It's definitely on the lighter side, but all in all am very happy with it.

No issues with the bracelet. Comfortable and light and wears well.

Wasn't too impressed with the bracelet at first in comparison with the one on my Seamaster Pro though now I think it's quite a bit of engineering - light and strong.

The bracelet on the 14060m has been proven over many years of use. Durability of the design and materials should never be a concern.

It is a great watch, with a simple and timeless design, IMO. If you like it, buy with confidence you will enjoy it for many years to come.

As for where to buy - I'd check the TRF For Sale section here. Many respected and long-time sellers.

Have to agree don't know why today that many think that heavy, more depth rating etc is always better afraid that's not always the case. Now when you think of the original sub 50 plus years ago with its light riveted bracelet, and yes there are still quite a few of those around today. After the change to the oyster bracelets as we know today even with a SEL now that was not introduced to the date sub till 2000.So there must be quite a few million Rolex watches in this world without a SEL bracelet and still going strong.

+1

I have the 14060M and it's the perfect watch. I met a guy with the new ceramic Sub (first one I saw in person) and he let me try it on. It was a very nice watch, definitely heavier, it looked a little bigger but when I put my 14060M back on my wrist it felt so much better. I'm so glad I have this watch.

One more note, check out the Cape Town diamond website, you can buy a very nice pre owned or new 14060M with a lifetime warranty. I can vouch for them.

I've yet to go to any AD and not see a ND sub. They are everywhere and I hit up ADs a lot. Just look at ADs next to you. They will be there.

Thanks for all the input and advice. I can see that the 14060M is appreciated by those that own them and for its connection to Rolex history, with its clean dial, lug holes, comfort, light-weight, and time-tested durability. I know this wasn't a huge seller for many ADs over the past few years, given the popularity of Sub-Dates, GMTs, and other popular Rolexes, but can't help but think this is an iconic watch that will stand the test of time.

Regarding finding an AD, shirtguy mentioned swissluxury.com. Their prices are great, but this is clearly a different business model from buying new from an AD or pre-owned from one of the sellers here on the forums. Controversial, no doubt. What do you all think of this approach? Anyone else bought a Rolex or other watch from them?

I'm still trying to find an AD but thanks for the suggestions so far.
