Do you think they will put a ceramic bezel on all Daytonas?

Will they put a ceramic bezel on all Daytonas at Basel 2013 or 2014? Is this going to be something that we should expect to hit all Daytona watch lines?

I know they made the Daytona w/ Ceramic on a strap... but is this headed to the rest of the line... i.e. will we see a RG Daytona on bracelet w/ ceramic bezel?

Some of you guys have been here much longer than me and have seen the transition from early Basel releases to widespread model changes.

I recall in 2008 that the WG Sub was released (along with the YG models) and it had the ceramic bezel, maxi case, and glide lock clasp... then several years later, the entire Sub line was revamped.

And if they will release an all new Daytona line w/ ceramic.... what happens to the value of the current line?

But we know it's coming.... right?

I mean I don't see how they could have ceramic bezels on some and and not on others.... the GMT and Subs don't share that type of a divergent line.

Or if it is interchangeable like something you screw on and off...

Who knows with Rolex. We won't know until it's out. Rolex has a ton of variation in the Daytona line. I would be more inclined to compare them with all the variations of the DJ.

That's true also... very true. I didn't think about that.

They have ones with multi jewel bezels, they have numerous dials... this could just be a variant and not an all across the board ceramic bezel change.

I feel better...

I have been dreaming about a 42mm Daytona with black ceramic bezel and white subdial for the last few years!

Who knows, they might even decide to add a new line with a date function!

I don't see how it could be 42... no way. It is awesome as it is already.

It's all speculation! Only Rolex know what their business strategy whether they need to increased the case size of its sports watches.

The new Explorer 1 and 2 are both bigger watches but they keep the non-date sub and sub c to 40mm!

We all got different wish to what the future Daytona might end up.

Current size is perfect IMHO

It would be a big mistake to increase the size. My new rule after I went through a Panerai and Bell & Ross phase is 40mm and Under

IMHO the old explorer II was a pretty stale model towards the end. I think Rolex went to 42 with it to give it some excitement. It's way to important to Rolex to discontinue but it needed something badly to generate sales. They didn't sell that well. The Sub GMT and Daytona don't have that issue. I could be wrong but IMO Rolex will leave the Sub Daytona and GMT at 40. Don't look for any changes with the Sub or GMT for atleast 5+ years. They were just updated.

For me - if I find the right Daytona WG this year , I hope there are no changes

If I don't find it in the next few months - I hope there is a ceramic version in 2013 ( or sooner )

This thread makes me wonder if the black ceramic bezel on the RG Daytona will fit on a SS Daytona, and whether the ceramic bezels are obtainable.

Anyone know?

Yes, Rolex suffers from obsessive compulsive behavior, they need to streamline all their models. But the ceramic Daytona looks good so I don't mind in this case. I actually had some hope they would spare the 14060m on the other hand, being an icon and all. But no.

Yes I would assume it is coming. When it does you will see the demand for the new model and the others will fall... Perhaps not as much on the SS side but on the gold and TT without a doubt.

For example check out purchasing a 16618 or a 116618... The non ceramic sub can be had for a bargain compared to its ceramic counterpart

Just my opinion but I do not see this far from reality.

Assuming the ceramics are going to happen...do you think they will actually look better than the current bezels?

On the YG Daytona the YG bezel look great.

I don't think it be long before we see the ceramic SS Daytona as it is getting easier to get one nowadays. I don't think it will go up in size either cause the new rose gold version is still 40mm! I think Rolex also know that more and more female wear Daytona as well (Just to name a few celebs-Victoria Beckham, Charlize Theron). Any bigger Daytona will alienate the female market!

The RG on a strap with the ceramic besel was / is a tryout. That's why it was only made for the RG on a strap and not for the AG with bracelett as a first.

If it sells well, the rest of the daytona line will get ceramic bessels over the next years.
If the market prefer the metal bessel it will not be replaced, and the RG with ceramic bessel will continue to be the "odd one".

Probably just a matter of time.

I would like to be able to choose between steel or ceramic and not just do away with the steel bezel. We'll see........
