SS Daytona

Hello all - I am new to this site and I need some help! I am trying to but a brand new SS Daytona at an authorized Rolex Dealer for the suggested retail price of $7,900.00!

I really want this watch ASAP so if anyone can provide help I will make the purchase on the spot!

I am sick of all the people trying to charge premium for this watch upwards of 11K or 12K!

Please help - this is my dream watch and only have the budget for the retail price!

Thanks -

Hi Pajola! Welcome to TRF!

You might wanna ask Chris ("Bluebull") how to get SS Daytonas at MSRP!

You might be as lucky as he, but to be honest, don't hold your breath getting an SS Daytona SOON at MSRP!

I for my part cannot help you finding one, although I wish I could.

My best suggestion is to phone ALL the AD's you can think of (and visit all those you can PERSONALLY) and put yourself on the waiting list. Sometimes you can get an SS Daytona from the AD you least had expected to get it from.

Also, please make the AD realize that you DON'T want the SS Daytona for the resale value, but that you want it for its incredible well-made movement and design, etc., etc.

For some reason, most AD's would rather sell a watch like the SS Daytona to a WIS (Watch Idiot Savant) than some smartarse guy who just wants to resell it immediately for a quick profit.

Good luck!

Thats why people are paying 11 or 12k. They are hard to get!!!!

Talk to an AD and get on a list if they have one

Want one an SS Daytona at MSRP? Just buy $50K worth of other watches from an AD in the next 6 months. That should do it.

It's just that $11-12 is the market value. All those purchasing at that price know thar the MRSP is $7900 and would love to have saved $3/4k themselves.

The boys were just highlighting the reality of the situation, with a light sprinkling of sarcasm.

Hi Pajola, Paul is correct. No offense meant at all im sure. Search through other Daytona threads. In some parts of the globe it would seem impossible to even think of getting one at MRSP... Unless of course you get a loan of Blue Bull's comb..... and maybe is wallet
Bo's advice is sound... A personal visit and a chat with AD's in your area (try to get talking to somebody important if possible) might pay off.
Good luck and Welcome

Everybody wanting one has the money,so thats irrelevant. Its either the way I comb my hair or that she mistook my happiness to see her for something else ... ...

I'm sorry. Didn't think it that bad, but I see you were offended.

If there is a one number discussion topic in this forum it seems (to me) to be SS Daytona: prices, supply, grey market, flippers, etc.

I always try to run a seach or two before I ask a question.

AD's get a lot of customer mileage with their SS Daytonas. They use them not to benefit idiot savants, but good customers. So, if you have bought 3 watches from an AD, you can get on the list, and they want you to be a form of advertising for them. You cannot just get on top of a list, and in some cases on any list, unless you are a good customer. This I have found to be true with 3 Oregon dealers. They will get the SS in, and then go to their carefully established list of customers.

I have bought 2 watches from my AD, one an LV, and I am now second on the list. But I am also huge source of other customers for then, and they know that. So although I have not been a real big spender, I am treated well as I have directed 3 buyers to them.

They may get 2 SS Daytonas in one year. They will call me one day and give me a 24 hour right of refusal to get in and buy at the watch. IF I don't want it there will be another salivating idiot downstream to get it. Like I said on another post, there is an orthopedist who is top of the list, and he was trying to negotiate that his friend could be next on the list, but they told him absolutely not since the friend was not a customer and would not be put on a customer's list, especially a "good" customer's list.

2 a year ? Sorry Arturo, the are bxxxshxtting you.I know how many my ADs get and its MUCH more than 1-2 a year.Your ADs in the US are supplying the grey market .... There is no other logical reason.Thats my theory.Like I have said before,ANYONE is invited to prove me wrong

It's all good guys...just frustrating at times with this watch! Most times the AD stores have an attitude b/c you want something they can't SELL you!

Like everyone else has said, obtaining an SS Daytona at retail w/o having much interaction with an AD is about as likely as well…fill in the blank, it just won’t happen. Not too mention in a city like L.A.

I got my Daytona from an AD here in L.A. However keep in mind that I am pretty friendly with the AD’s son, it was my 3rd Rolex that I purchased from them, also purchased a Cartier Roadster for my wife from them, and we bought our wedding rings from him too. Also he knew it was my dream watch and that my wife was buying it as a wedding gift, so he knew I wasn’t going to flip it for a profit.

The only way you’ll get an SS Daytona at MSRP here in L.A. within the next year or so is to forge a good relationship with an AD, let them know that you sincerely want this watch and are willing to wait some. I bet you’ll get it within a year.

I know my AD really well, and they get 2 a year period. And that is the same for the AD in Eugene. MRSP always as well. You should never shop with any AD who charges over MRSP on any watch. IT takes a year to get one of these as Spencer states, and he spells out how it is done.

1) Simple. You just have to have a good AD

2) I did. Bought it right out of the showcase to boot
