"Reasonably-priced" 1660 TT Subs?
I am new to TRF and I'm trying to take the first big leap and buy a TT 16613. Looking for an "R" or earlier series with boxes, papers, and tags. I've been watching them for 2 months now and I know they're not selling for more than $5k give or take. Why are some sellers determined to make $6k on these? Am I crazy or are these being way overpriced? Does anyone know where I can find a reasonably-priced 16613 TT Sub?
Greatly appreciated. Last edited by LSUfan34; 21 April 2012 at 04:38 AM.. Reason: Misspell |

I don't know about prices on that specific watch, but what something is "for sale for" and what it "sells for" are two VERY different things.
I'm into motorcycles too and I see people listing Harley's for $5,000 more than they would ever ever get in the real world.... |

I agree. I've been watching these Subs being relisted multiple times (with no bidding activity) for $5300-$6k for a "9" series and older as well as newer. And the sellers won't budge at all!! Wonder why there not selling????

You can't tell me a "9" series TT Sub without boxes or papers is worth $5000.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I haven't seen any selling for that price. Looks like they're struggling to make $5200-5300. Without boxes or papers.

I didn't say it was an easy sell and to be frank when I had mine on the block a few years back I didn't get my price so I kept it. It's a soft market for two tones. They aren't in as much demand as the SS, but for me the market wasn't going to steal from me. I didn't need the money, i was just going to flip it for something so I decided to keep it and I'm thrilled I did. Now I'd never part with it.

Agreed. Plus, when a seller inflates their asking price it gives them room to "negotiate" with you so that you're left feeling like you got a "good" deal.

Wontonebad: I've notice that trend in the TT Sub market recently as well. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to find one good enough to hang onto as well. I know everyone needs to make a profit, but in these financial times nothing is recession proof. Sometimes you need to hang onto things if the maket isn't favorable, but I don't agree with is taking a hostile approach to buyers making a reasonable offer.

Sure, instead of saying "I resent that remark" I substituted "resemble" for comic effect since threemonkeys hit pretty close to home. LOL
