Ever Modify an SS Daytona

I am wondering if anyone who has a 116520 SS Daytona ever modified it by swapping out the dial for either the WG white or black dial. If so, how did you source the dial? What was the cost of the Rolex dials? Do folks recommend against it, i.e., frankenwatch-like. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have an SS Daytona and I am just curious. If anyone has pics it would be appreciated. Thanks,

There was a panda dialed SS for sale for $13-14k in the classifieds. These pop up every now and then. The hardest part by far is sourcing the dial and hands. Im think those will be very expensive. Personally I don't like modifying a SS watch to look like a WG one.

I think it has been done and posted here before. My guess is someone will be along shortly.

While not inexpensive, I think you can source hands and a dial

There are many of them here. A search will yield a fair number of pics and posts.

There's a couple of them.

You can either search for them, or I imagine a couple of people like Thomas will be along shortly.

You would have to source the dial and hands and find an independent watchmaker to do the installation for you.

I'm pretty sure Dalip has swapped the dial on his 116520, I'd be willing to bet on it actually...If I was a betting man.

anything can be sourced but they are sometimes a little bit expensive... 116520 white or black dials go from 500usd to 600usd... set of hands can be around 100-200usd...
The racing dials are like 1000usd... around 1200-14000usd with matching hands... more rare dials go for 2000usd and up for sure...
The actual change is in less than an hour an it costs around 100-150usd.
Cheers,
Eduardo

No, I don't usually keep pictures of others wearing their Rolex, just of me. Slight touch of narcism which i feel most trf members may share.

Anyway this thread with posts from Dalip should answer your question...

I spoke with a fellow member here. He got the 116509 black dial and red hands into his SS Daytona.

I love this combo of black dials inside the white dial, makes everything stand out & makes reading time very easy!

This is absolutely fantastic. Someday (i.e. after the warranty on my Daytona expires) I will try to do similar mods...hope you don't mind.
