5513 service dial
I'm new to the forum, and wanted to get some info about switching the dial on a 5513. I have a 5.2 million serial number 5513 with a Rolex service dial, and want to find a period correct dial, which I believe would be a maxi MK II or MK III, please correct me, if I'm wrong. I got a really good deal on my current 5513, and it's in great condition. How much would this take me back financially, and is it worth doing? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

The same amount as you paid for the watch ;-)
No I am sure you'll find one cheaper. Good luck HAGM |

many of the 5 mil. series 5513s came with a typle 1 maxi dial. my 5 mil 1977 did. These dials had a 1-3 year transaition overlap.

It's safe to find a maxi 1 with the depth rating on top? Would a Maxi 2- 4 work? I think my 5513 is a 1978. I've seen a few on Ebay for $400 to 500. Thanks for the help.

yes , maxi 1 with depth on top were found on most 1977s and 1978s. any of the maxi's would prob. be fine, I have seen yr 78's with both types, but I have seen 1978's with punches papers for sale that had maxi 1 ( submariner on bottom )

$900 is a lot. I saw one on ebay go for $500 from a reputable seller. Thanks for the advice from everyone. The search continues.

I stand corrected. The posts above are right. The 1977s and 1978s had pre-comex dial. my dial on my 1977 5 mil. seies is a pre comex not maxi 1 http://www.vintagehour.com/en/2010/12/what-is-precomex/

I would do the switch and bring the watch 100% correct.
I would go for a mk1 maxi, which are really nice. These dials are expensive. |

Thanks for your input. Anyway, a 5.2 MILL could have a FF serif dial?
