Fake on ebay!!! Report this junk

Here's one for you guys. This thing is a joke:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=110172093722

It's item #110172093722 in case the link doesn't work. Nothing bothers me more than someone trying to rip someone off over the internet. Cowards.

Everything but check out the gold paint lines on the underside where the band attaches to the case.

Crown on bracelet and dial too thick?
Gold on bracelet shows underlying metal.
Bezel way off.

Still learning "spot the fake" :)

Sadly fake Bolex watches are everywhere...we're just a band-aid when there's major hemmoraging elsewhere.

Here's my impression of what the fakes are doing to NYC.

Does Rolex has display window on the back in the Oyaster models? I don't think so. But correct me if I am wrong.

Looks like the bracelet attaches to the case in an unusual manner. Of course, the see-through back looks immediately suspect!

Look at the generic movement, low feedback, it just screams fake. I have no doubt. I did report it, but it takes more than one. I also suspect that the 1 bid is a "shill" bid.

Honestly the movement is the only thing that looked fake at first glance to me. I just thought it was beat up real bad. I have a lot of work to do when it comes to spotting fakes. There's no better place to learn then here!

Rolex does not make any clear caseback models.

However, that picture looks like the caseback was popped off for the photo.. Still, it is not a Rolex movement.

Occasionally you will find a nice custom clear caseback, but that is the exception..

(except for one antique made in short supply a few decades ago)

Yes, you can under certain circumstances. It is called "Bid retraction".

http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/quest...tract-bid.html

Not popular on eBay, but nevertheless possible.

The one bidder is definately a 'shill' bidder...

He's currently bidding on all of these watches:

Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 2 Seller 4 4d 6h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 1 Seller 5 1d 7h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 1 Seller 7 3d 20h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 2 Seller 8 2d 15h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 1 Seller 6 18h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 1 Seller 9 17h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 4 Seller 10 18h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 2 Seller 11 5h
Jewelry & Watches > Wristwatches 3 Seller 17 <1h

They are all still active auctions also!

Ah, the wonderful world of eBay.

My hat's off to those of you who know what you're doing. Me, I'll never have that kind of confidence and am doomed to a lifetime of spending my money buying new from an Authorized Dealer.

Someone else just bid on it. It's now up to 910. The clasp has incorrect markings too, I believe. It should say steelinox with 93250 instead of the old 62523h.18.

Can you report the shillers, too?

I don't know what good reporting will do, frankly. It's never going to end.

But I admit I enjoy watching you guys do this.

I almost immediately received a message back from ebay regarding my report. It basically said they are looking into the situation.

I admit, I am also enjoying this. I stayed home sick today and can't even sleep due to persistent coughing. This is keeping me very well distracted.

Here's another doubtful one, the images appear stolen from an auction that used auctiva, because of the camera logo in the bottom right corner of the pictures. I think auctiva puts that watermark in there when people use them. Plus 0 feedback, and the ever popular among fake sellers, a female name. Don't know why, but it seems a majority of the scam auctions have a female seller's name for some reason. Maybe to some bidders a female seems more trustworthy.
