Seeking Rolex advice for newcomer
Hi Folks.... I am new to this forum , and actually new to Rolex.
I have always promised myself a Rolex - a sign of quality & beauty :) I am considering purchasing a 116200 or 116234 - white face , roman numerals , jubilee bracelet. Any advice.. ideas... help .. please ? (recommended jewellers? , jewellers/dealers to avoid? are Rolex watches generally fixed prices or can one get discount?) Thanks |

Welcome to TRF.
Buy the seller, make sure you get what your paying for. As a brand new buyer, I would recomend getting one from an AD Authorized Dealer, or a trusted seller (Comes with plenty of refferences) on this forum. Good luck with your hunt.

Hi David,
Welcome to TRF. I personally had the same choice to make a couple of years ago. I decided to go with the 116234. I liked very much the fluted bezel with the jubilee bracelet, the white bezel, and the stick dial. Very simple and elegant. The 116200 is very nice as well, and less expensive. Your best best to go to an AD and try both of them, and the selection would be easier. Good luck and keep us posted. |

Thanks for taking an interest and for the advice.
I'll take a trip to AD , try them and take a good long think... I don't like jumping in too quick. Big decision. I'll be sure to keep you posted. |

David, I just purchased my first Rolex from a trusted seller on the forum. It was a great experience and saved significant money. Literally just got it today and had it checked by an AD.
There are plenty of "gently used" watches that come up for sale here in the classifieds. I'm not familiar with the models you listed, but if your patient I bet you can find one for sale. My 2 cents... Steve |

Hi David,
As you're in the Wirral, I can recommend Goldsmiths of Chester - bought a DJ for my wife from them a few days ago and the service (and indeed price) was superb! Happy shopping!! |

Definitely a smart move to take your time and do your homework before jumping into your first Rolex purchase.
Good luck!!

Hey.. Thanks for your help & good wishes - much appreciated.
This TRF is addictive and very helpful. I have tracked down two good AD's in Chester - GoldSmiths (thanks JGX) & DavidMRobinson. Both quote £5040 for 116234 , steel , white-face , flute bevel , jubilee bracelet. Can I expect any discount or are prices totally fixed? |
