Comparison between Daytona and Omega Speedmaster

Although it is in French, very interesting.
Article (TZ) got mentioned on another forum, to make a long story short ...
Functionality wise the Daytona got murdered against a 321 which also costs only 5% of the Daytona although that is changing VERY rapidly at the moment (current market value?).

If ye want I could post a translation or maybe try Babel translator, it has gotten very good over time, even sentences and not only words.

Don't get me wrong Im sure Omega make great watches, but to me they just aren't 'a Rolex'.. Does that make sense ?

Built as well if not better, better value for the pound, possibly more interesting design........ just not a Rolex

Although I like Rolex as much as the next guy, better value for the pound? Omega 5% of the price of a daytona???
Design ... I can see your point althooouggh
But the original thread was about functionality.

No no, I was saying Omega better value, possibly better designs (maybe more modern, tho not as 'timeless') - in other words, Omega make sense to buy...........................just not for me

kinda translated :
yes you are right Alain, the "photographs are not contractual" because they represent watches of different periods... but the screwed push rods form all the same part of the identity of Daytona.
gauge: I find these two movements with wheel with column very
beautiful

The experts in mechanics say to me that the cal. 321 is higher than Valjoux... I do not know, always is it that my three Speedmaster animated by this movement always were of a precision and an exemplary reliability.
Favour Omega

Reliability: there at least it is indisputable and scientist,
the speedmaster carried (Jean-Michel source):
1965 first qualification program: High temperature, Low temperature, Temperature-press, Relative humidity, Oxygen atmosphere, Shock, Acceleration, Decompression, High presses, Vibration, Acoustic noise.

....

Favour Rolex

Cote/SAV: there it is anything with dimensions Rolex... A my
opinion Daytona is not worth 15/20.000 Euros, especially if one PN. As for the SAV, one announces to us that Rolex will not be able to revise these watches soon any more "too anciennnes" whose production was arretée in 1986! On the other hand the Omega are completely under with dimensions (a factor ten compared to Rolex): let us profit in!

Favour Omega

Conclusion: Objectively, Speedmaster is the most rational
choice.

I was originally looking at a Black face Daytona (2nd hand), but for the same price I bought a brand new Omega Speedmaster Professional (Moon Watch) and a Brand new Rolex Submariner, with change left over, which I used to buy a black leather band with white stitching for my Omega. I couldn't be happier with these watches. I love them both and would never swap them for a Daytona!!
