I think know the answer to this, because of the Daytonas wide spread cult like following, but maybe some gmtiic fans will kick in here...

Scraped together the money, finally, for a new ss gmtiic from an AD (can't wait to make the purchase), and I already have a ss super jubilee dj from an AD. This last minute thought crossed my mind:

Taking the capital for the gmtiic and my dj as a trade in, it would only take a minor amount of extra cash to take home a new Daytona... What would you do?

I like the idea of having more than one watch to keep things exciting, but I think a Daytona would satisfy my thirst. Help me out on this... Ps. I am a daily wearer and switch between my watches ever few months or so. I love the gmtiic, and have been bitten by the bug, and eventually want a yg daytona, but i think a ss one could certainly make me very happy. What to do...

I greatly prefer the variety of having a sport model + a classic DJ. Truly a watch for every occassion. I am also not the biggest Daytona fan, so this is a no-brainer:)

I have a GMTIIC and am looking at a DJII. I like the larger size. The Daytona looks small on me. Just my opinion.

Hi A, had the same dilemma except I had 2 DJ's so my decision was easier. I too had enough money for the GMT II. I sold one of my DJ's & got the Daytona...So my advice, get the Daytona! I love its look & its scarcity, just my 2 cents..

GMT+DJ everytime. Simple math when precious metals aren't involved 1 is always < 2.

Make sure you like the Daytona as your one and only Rolex ... the absence of a date, and the readability of the dial needs to be taken into account. A Daytona is awesome as a watch on rotation with others, but if I could only have one, and only one Rolex, I'd keep the GMT.

Gmt iic + DJ will give you variety. You'll have both dress & sports watch covered!

Absolutely not. IIc and a DJ are both great versatile watches. I'd keep them.

This. The Daytona is too busy for me, and I'd never use the complications. The GMT, I do use the time zone feature. And I'd never give up my DJ for a Daytona.

If I was to get a watch with a chronograph function this would be easy. I'd go for the Daytona. The thing is, I prefer to wear something without the subdials and something with a large sweeping second hand and a date function. While I'm generally a one watch guy, I'd choose the DJ-GMT combination.

There is a reason it takes the GMTIIc +DJ to get a Daytona.... So for me it would be a no brainer!
