I got my hands on this Tudor ..

These are the images from the seller with his permission ..

It is a pre-Tiger 79270 and I fell in love with this watch a long time ago while looking for rolexes on this forum..

I just picked this up from a member on here today..
Papers dated back to 1998..

It has a Valjoux 7750 movement I believe and the rotating bezel.. This watch looks stunning in person!!
I have a few questions... I have box and papers (which is great)
Will Rolex USA service this watch and how much $ will they charge?
Does anyone know a great watchmaker that has a lot of experience with the Valjoux 7750 movement that I can send it to instead of Rolex?
WHere can I have this watch pressure tested and regulated in North NJ ?

Pretty much any experienced watch maker can service the Valjoux 7750. The reason the screw is not moving is prob because of lactite. You need to heat it up a bit to loosen it.

Yeah thanks I heat it up for a minute and it came right out, took out one link and now it fits perfect. These hollow bracelets and hollow end links feel kinda cheap compared to the new solid bracelets.. I really love the look of this watch.

X2

That would be my guess.

Pretty common movement, used in a number of different manufactures brands and watches.

Yes, if you mean that when moved a certain way the movement gives off a peculiar sensation - like a vibration or as if something loose is rolling around inside. When I first noticed this on my 79260 I thought I'd broken something loose from hitting the watch against a door frame. My watchmaker (Rolex AD) looked it over, said it's fine and that it was the idiosyncrasy of the sturdy Valjoux 7750 movement - "rotor wobble."

Your Tudor is lovely - congratulations!

Thank you guys.... I had my eye on this type of tudor for awhile, I wanted one with the rolex crown and case back and did not want a Tiger on the dial.. I was about to pull the trigger on one on ebay that was the same like mine but said tiger BUT had the rolex crown but tudor case back. I was doing research on the watch when I came across a old tread where someone posted pics of this watch and said he wanted to sell because it did not get much wrist time and he was in NJ about 1 hour from me!!(this was meant to be).. I PM'ed him about a month ago and finally saved up enough and met him today./.

This forum is GREAT!!!

Are these pre-tigers tudors with the rolex crown and caseback become more rare and valuble as time goes on?

I'm sure with the title of your thread being what it is, he will be along shortly.

Rotor wobble?

Wasn't that a dance from the mid-sixties?

I believe my watch was one of the last ones that came out before the Tigers..
The serial number begins with a "B" and it was originally purchased in 1998..
Its not vintage yet but hopefully will become a vintage peice and more sought after as the years go by!!

My guess is yes! Hope this is true for all the Tudor Chronos. Mine's a Tiger and it has a Tudor caseback but a Rolex crown.

Nice score! Rolex crowns, case backs, and Oysterdate dials do command a slight premium but not quite as much as the Big Blocks.
Whether it sports a Rolex crown or Tudor shield, it's still the same exact watch.
The rotating bezel makes it even better, IMHO.
Congrats,
dP

Thanks , I am loving the watch.. I had a few more questions, are parts out there like if I wanted to replace the bezel can I find one?
The only this I am disappointed with is the bracelet , I am used to the subc and the super jubilee solid bracelets and solid end links.

Sourcing the bezel is the problem. They are out there but come up for sale far and few between. Inserts can be ordered from any watchmaker with a Rolex parts account.
The Tudor jubilee bracelets are a bit more substantial with SELs and solid links (except for the very center links), so that is an option. Because of the extra large end links the current bracelet is the only Oyster option.

Dan you da MAN!!

How hard is it to replace the insert bezel?
can anyone do it or do i need a watchmaker?
How many MM are the endlinks on these watches, 19mm or 20mm?

DO you have a model # or bracelet number for the Tudor Jubilee braclet and how much do you think they cost?
Can I order one from ROLEX?

Sorry for all the questions but I heard you are the man when it comes to Tudor and I really appreciate your help..

This one says it has 17MM end links so I am guessing this is not the correct one..

Thank you!

I've replaced inserts so it can't be too hard.

Any watchmaker can do it in minutes.
The end links are 20mm.
Can't remember the Tudor jubilee reference number (on holiday) but hopefully someone will come along with that info. In the US it's damn near impossible to order a Tudor jubilee from an AD. Rolex in other country's are a bit more customer friendly. I looked for years and luckily found one for sale on one of the watch forums.

Hey congratulations, nice watch

All parts are hard to find for these watches and come with some staggering costs in the after-market, getting parts from Rolex is cheaper but you need a watch tech with a Rolex parts account.

The 7750 movement should be able to be serviced from any good watch tech and yes you can feel the movement fairly easily in 7750's

The watch is not vintage though and will never been considered vintage, but it's a looker anyway, enjoy

The watch is GREAT, the only thing is that it runs great when I am wearing it but overnight it picked up a minute or 2.. Prob going to need a service soon.
Can anyone recommend anyone in North NJ area that can service the 7750 movement?
