Help: bezel insert swap 1675/875k
I was hoping to have a faded insert to switch with the minty on i have. Researched, read & watched everything I could find on the web about swapping bezel inserts.
Pop off came w no problem... Was hard to get the insert free from the ring, but out it came.... Now, I can't get the new faded one in. They appear to be the exact same size...Perhaps its not OEM, I guess, but I can't get the original, straight-from-Rolex insert, back in the ring either... Help. What's the trick? Are the acrylic crystal watches harder? i need some help or my dream of going from vintage faded to vintage-minty is dead. Your thoughts please. Thanks in advance. |

you really shouldn't attempt this swap yourself, you're causing a lot of wear to the bezel by breaking it off like this

It requires way more pressure than you think to pop that bezel insert into place....

Quote:
do it 2-3 times and the insert will have clear bending marks on the edges/smooth surface

I did see this great work on bezel changing but I am not getting the table "trick". Would some be kind enough to explain this method in more detail?
Other tips also appreciated. thanks |

Got it! Geez was that scary.
So the trick was to roll it a bit... The insert had flattened out. I rolled ot a bit back to its more conical shape- sloping up toward the crystal/down toward the bezel. I shaped it with my fingers and rolled it a bit with a highlighter and snap, it went right back in. Whew. Love the fade! It was worth it... Now I've just got to wait for the od green phoenix NATO strap "aging" in the sun/weather out on my window sill for he total faded experience!! Haven't figured out how to post pics, sorry |
