My GMT stopped for the first time!

Just looked down and my GMT stopped 2 hours ago. I guess I better get up and move around a little...

Seriously though, I wound it 40 times yesterday and I tend to do this once a week or so. I wear it every day, only take it off at night and it has never stopped before. I pulled the crown and wound it but it didn't start for 20 or 25 turns. When I shake my wrist side to side it makes a rather pronounced "ZZZZ... ZZZZ" sound and some quiet rattling (not the bracelet)I've never noticed before. Seems to be working okay now though.

Should I be concerned here?

I would hack the mechanism and have it checked out by watchmaker. Any rattling in the watch would concern me.

Sorry to go off track here, but I love your avatar. So many great comedians of our generation died at such a young age:

Chris Farley
John Candy
The Great John Belushi

and so many more....

It may be time to hit the spa. It'll be good as new.

Well I spent some time on the golf course and cleaned house so my mood is better. Collected enough for a rather large chunk of my upcoming service...

After thinking about my now broken Rolex I would like to say NO NO NO F word NO S word

A month or two of summer in Wisconsin without my very first Rolex? Geez Louise....

That sounds really bad to me. (in my best Fargo accent...) Ahhhh Geez Expect lots of childish whining from me over the next few months.

Seriously though, thanks for the info. Great great advice around here.

Sorry to hear, but as have been suggested, it might need to visit a watchmaker soon.

It can't be that bad - rotor rubbing (excess wobble), bearing or axle shot, whatever. A fix for that and a good cleaning (like housecleaning, right?) will 'change the mood!' Luck and keep us posted on whats going on!

I'm sure it's not as bad as it sounds. Could be the main spring or something with the anchor. Go see your watchmaker.
