The ceramic submariner !
Been and tried on a ceramic submariner today ! and what a watch it is !
If your thinking of purchasing a new updated sub then its a cracker of a watch ! Having seen a few pictures of the watch isnt the same as putting one on your wrist ! The watch has a real quality feel to it , its big heavy and solid better then the older model subs , which are are also cool watches but lack the weight aspect , i like to feel im wearing a watch if you get my drift. The only thing id say is if your after a ceramic submariner go also look at the ceramic gmt which comes close to the submariner in size and weight . |

When I was watch shopping a couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to try out both - one on each wrist. One thing to note is the ceramic bezel is VERY glossy. It's so glossy that I honestly think the GMT's bezel looks better in ceramic, because the SubC bezel is just about glossy overkill and it can be a little challenging to focus on the numbers because your eyes are pulled into all that gloss.
I had the opposite opinion before the ceramic bezel was introduced, as the GMT's bezel looked pretty busy and the SubC looked nice and clean. This and the fact that I can actually use the GMT function is what pushed me to the GMT IIc. Both gorgeous watches though and you can't go wrong with either. |

I agree. I like the feel on the 116610 over the 16610 as well. I share the same feelings about I like the upgrades and think they make the SubC a better watch.

I agree to the extent that the new SubC feels a little more heavy duty.

The shiny bling of the ceramic bezel suits a GMT but not a divers watch, such as the Sub.

I have tried on the new sub date, it's handsome and impressive but I still prefer my 16610, I find the new watch to heavy and large and am not keen on the wide lugs meeting the bracelet. But it all comes down to personal preference and I'm sure it will attract a lot of younger buyers. It seems the oversize cases are the way its going for Rolex similar to what Omega have been doing for the last 10 years.

I'm finding my Sub C is more comfortable on the wrist than my 16610 was. YMMV
