Has anyone taken their Rolex to an RSC (NY) to get it sized or adjusted? Was there any charge? I need to get a new Sub sized and I have heard stories of AD potentially charging for this service. I purchased mine via trusted seller. Thanks.

Yes. It would take them less than 5mins to do that.

Why not buy a tool and do it yourself?

Just about any AD should size it for free, some might charge but in my experience most wouldn't and are happy to start off on the right foot with a new Rolex owner. I would stop by an AD and ask.

Assuming you don't need links of course.

I do and in my experience they charge a few hundred for tt links. S's links I've had thrown in with purchase price. I'd imagine you'd pay for both if you do it after watch purchase.

Yes they'll do it, free of charge. I went to RSC and got mine adjusted couple weeks ago.

PS: They don't even care whether the watch is still under warranty or not. All for free!

what screwdriver works best? is there a specific screwdriver u can recommend?

the one i use for springbar change seems not sturdy enough...

Absolutely however it is so very simple to do yourself, just grab a tool kit and you will be all set

If it's convenient, why not. The RSC will even take it in the back for a quick look and tell you it anything is amiss..

Some Dealers will charge for a bracelet fit if you didn't buy it there.. they are a business..

A few months ago, I took my Sub that I bought from a trusted seller to RSC in NYC and got it sized for free. Also got a green pouch.

The Sea-Dweller one is awesome! You can probably find it here or the auction site.

Some do, some don't. Ring around your local area and ask. Even if they do charge, it'll only be a token $10-$15 max, not really anything to quibble about if you're just bought a $10k watch ...

Chicago RSC does it for free. The Big T in Chicago charges $10, of course.

My AD has never charged. Just walking in, they offer to clean it. I guess it just depends on the service level the store manager wants to provide to customers.

The now open Rolex boutique in NYC will probably do it for free too, plus, you get to play with more Rolex watches while you wait.

Update - just got back from the NY RSC. No charge as many of your mentioned. Got a nice little baggie and cloth. Process took about 1/2 hour and got some free chocolate while I waited. Did not have a chance to check out the new boutique though. Originally I thought that was the entrance to the service center but it's on 53rd street side, 5th floor.

I'd recommend you to learn how to do it yourself, it's not a big deal at all. Just get a jewelers screwdriver set, an eyeloupe and you're set to go. It is extremely easy to do. Just unscrew the bars on the segment you want to take off and that's it! No small pieces that jump. A very easy and basic task, it can be done without the eyeloupe too.

You can buy both at eBay for peanuts (unless you want some high quality Swiss Bergeon tools, that are very expensive but will last a lifetime). And you won't scratch anything.
