Yes. "Aftermarket".
It's debatable if the saphire replacement crystals are as water resistant as the OEM Acrylic. P.S I'm not going to be able to tell you where to get a sapphire. One: because I don't know where. Second: Because Acrylic is cooler! Welcome to TRF!

This is a well discussed subject. My understanding is that an acrylic-crystal Rolex is not built for the sapphire crystal. You can get an aftermarket version (might include a bezel, though) that will work, but watertightness could be at risk. Rolex will definitely not service it without taking it back to acrylic.
I've actually got a DJ that was "upgraded" with diamonds and sapphire crystal. It looks OK, but I should have put it back to acrylic when I bought it. I prefer sapphire crystals, but my favorite Rolex are my older, acrylic versions. |

If you like sapphire, why not get a real sapphire model Turnograph. It could still be quasi-vintage (like 20-25 years old).
