New Problem
I was at a conference this morning in Denver and discovered I have a new problem. Now that I have an interest in Rolex (I thought about creating a pseudo-Latin based plural for Rolex, but then thought better of it) I keep finding myself wanting to see if other folks are wearing them.
So, I'm supposed to be listening to a lecture about treatment of a certain disease state, and I find myself ignoring the speaker, and instead looking from wrist to wrist on the other docs there, hoping they don't notice. It's tougher than I thought to discern watch type. I mean, here you guys post nice digital close-ups, but half way across a room, half way under a cuff-that's a different story. I wonder if any of the docs this morning noticed my stares, and if so, at what did they think I was staring? Anyone else had this problem? I'm afraid people will think I'm some sort of pervert. . . ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Not a new problem at all, Jason.....I find myself staring at people's wrist all the time to try and spot a Rolex or two.
Unfortunately, in New Zealand very few Rollies can be spotted floating around. Most Kiwis prefer to wear some cheap POS just good enough to tell time. Most Rolex and high-end Swiss watches sales go to the tourists, especially the ones from South-East and Far-East Asia as they do get terrific prices with duty free discounts when they leave the country and collect their watches at the airport. Pervert!!! Just kidding, I think a women last week thought I was staring at her chest (which was quite impressive actually lol) when I was just looking at the DJ on her wrist as she was adjusting her purse strap.

I'm always looking at people's wrists to see what kind of watch they have on. Just Friday I was in line at Lowe's and the guy behind me had on a new DJ w jubilee bracelet and white dial. We both caught each other looking at the other's watch a few times but nothing was said.

Yes I'm afraid I'm a wrist watcher as well. It's not an unusual complaint but there's no cure.

Jason, I hate to break it to you, but you are disgustingly normal. Well at least as normal as any of the rest of us here (which admittedly, isn't saying much
![]() I am always staring at wrists to see what someone is wearing. A particularly good wrist watching (pun intended) venue is the Metro during rush hour. The line I take is sometimes called the "lawyer's line." So there's usually some high end watches to view there. Nothing spectacular - I've seen a few DJs, an occasional Sub, but nothing flashier.

PD, you think you've got a problem? I'm in such an advanced stage of the disease my girlfriend's formally named it the Rolex Radar.
![]() BTW, ending with "x", one might suspect that the proper plural of Rolex is "Rolices". ![]() Similar to JJ's environment, Rolexes in Melbourne are rarer than honest politicians, which makes the number of used Rolexes available quite surprising. To date, I've spotted two Explorers, one TT Blue Sub, one President and two DJs here. On the other hand, when I'm in Singapore, there's a wonderful range to be spotted on the streets, although you do have to pick them out from a whole bunch of DJ lookalikes.

Totally normal, now wait for the next phase, that is when everyone elses sub looks huge on their wrist, but normal to small on yours. Trust me it does look perfect on you, it just appears to not be that way.

It's kind of like when girls check out other girl's diamond rings. Same thing only different.
