6248 Clasp?
Anyone have any info on a rolex clasp with the number 6248? It fits on a 19 mm 78350 oyster bracelet. I checked other references, but cannot find the 6248 number (it is also marked as M12, which according to other references dates to Dec. 1988).
thanks, Crombie |

From what I can gather, the 78350 oyster bracelet came in two sizes, 17mm and 19mm. The 17mm was mid-size. The 19mm was used on Cosmograph, Air-King and OP. Now also, the 78350 bracelets were also used on Tudor mid-size watches, but were 17mm. There is also reference made to a Tudor bracelet 6248-17 (which indicates 17mm) with end pieces 598 or 601. Hope this helps a little. John. |

Thanks for the info John! I was using the "Rolex Report" as my reference and was unable to find any info regarding this clasp. Using their tips for counterfeit or aftermarket parts, this clasp does appear genuine. It is on a 7835-19 bracelet that I purchased to use with a Tudor date that I wanted to start wearing (a re-dialed Tudor with Ranger style hands and numbers). This clasp does have the Rolex hallmarks on it including the crown on the front side. When I compared this clasp to the clasp on my Air King (circa 88-89), the placement of the Rolex crown on the just seemed in a different position than on the 6248. The Dec. 88 dating that I used was researched from the Oysterworld 2005 website. I understand dating and research for the Tudors are spotty at best and vary quite a bit, but does this apply to Rolex bracelets as well?
thanks for all the info (and time taken to answer!) crombie |
