What do you know about the reverso?

Hi all, recently I've been thinking about a JLC reverso as my next purchase. Looking on the website and many previous posts, I've noticed that there are quite a few models out there. It seems at one point they had an automatic version, the question is it still being produced? Also, does anyone know the difference between the 976 and the Grand Taille? Thanks in advance for your knowledge!

I've tried a number of different Reversos over the years and come to a single truth about this iconic model... You need to try them all on. Everyone's wrist is shaped differently. A Reverso that fits me fine may not look right on you.

The 976 is bigger and has a clear caseback (I think) where the grande taille is smaller and has a solid case back. I bet there are many different versions then it comes to complications on both as well. The Reverso line has beautiful timeless watches illustrated by kilyung above.

Beautiful pictures, and thanks for the info! I agree and plan to try them on in person. But aside from the squadra, are all of the current reverso options hand wind only?

I think so. A Reverso should be hand wound IMO.

It's actually quite nice to give the Reverso a wind...any reason to have a play with it.

To answer your question

What do you know about the Reverso

I can tell you something some of us will know but I'm sure most don't know The Reverso is the JLC icon. But did you know Patek Philippe also made a Reverso ?
The thing is, the Reverso is not a JLC invention. It was a guy called Chauvet who designed and made this watch.
In 1931 he got the patents and tried to sell it to wellknown brands such as JLC and Patek. Patek made 8 Reverso's but for some reason they were not interested in this design. Yup, also the king among the high-end watches once made a big mistake.
Anyway JLC showed enough interest in this piece and they bought the rights to this unique case.
So today, more than 80 years later it is an iconic JLC ... but it could have been Patek .

Anyway, imo a Reverso is a must have if you own a few watches.
