'67 GMT Master 1675

What do you fellows think about this vintage GMT? Pics are not great, and no mention of any details . What is the going rate for 1675's nowadays? Clean ones on ebay seem to be going for 5k+ last time i checked.

I really dont know a lot about 1675's and which dial is which and which one belongs on which etc.. hoping somebody could chime in.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/jwd/3135481674.html

After a clean up this one might not be too bad, i like the patina. Appears to be a pawn shop, asking 3500- could be negotiable.

1.9 puts it at 1968 and should have a MK1 dial. That means that the E in Rolex right below the crown that the second hand is obscuring should be the same length with all the lines coming out of the E. It has a fat font faded insert and the font on the open 9 looks to be correct. Date wheel itself should be silver. Most of them look white in pictures so you'll need better pics. If you can deal with the corrosion then it would make a good daily beater if it checks out. Just keep in mind that the corrosion may prevent it from sealing correctly regardless how well it is serviced. I wouldn't go any higher than 3K.

Nice enough but .....

It's really just an entry level 1675.

Attractive enough with the colouring on the plots and hands and a sexy insert but IMO it loses points on ...

- corrosion on the case
- flaws on the dial (relume ?) and failed lume on the sweep
- engraving on the caseback

Better resolution pics may make you feel better or worse about the watch - looks like it may be heavily polished ?
From what I see I'd suggest circa $3k is a fair price - make sure you could live with it's faults though

That corrosion worries me. from those pics, the movement looks clean and corrosion free, hopefully the case is still capable of sealing.

I may just have to drive out there and look at it in person.

Thanks for the help!

Indeed, I did notice the lugs seem to be pretty rounded on the edges, probably heavily polished. Most of these things i am capable of living with.. but the heavy polishing could be a deal breaker.

IMO the price is very fair. The brown stuff mainly looks like dirt, so hopefully there will be minimal corrosion on the case. I would go for it. Case looks pretty nice, dial and hands are nicely aged, and all you would need is a movement service and crystal!

Is this the right style of bracelet for a late 60's 1675?

Appears to have a considerable amount of stretch.

I believe it to be correct style, but need detailed images of inside the clasp

A little loose but appropriate. Got this nice Jubilee from Nikos AKA "greekbum" for a nice price.

Great purchase KW. A late 1960's GMT in great condition would set you back around $5500. If you got it close to $3500, you should be well under that amount with a service, original band and a few parts. Congratulations. I love the old GMT's and would have grabbed that one up at $3500. If you need help sourcing any parts, send me a PM and I'll see if my watchmaker can help you out who is here in Dallas.

Thanks a lot springer- I'll work on getting some pictures of it. It's a charming little Gmt. I can't seem to put it down. No buyer's remorse yet :)

From what I understand, it previously belonged to a pawn broker in Dallas for a number of years. He wore it everyday until he passed away in the late 90's. The watch has been sitting in a drawer since then.

It needs a really good cleaning-the bezel isn't rotating, probably due to all of the wrist funk jammed in there.

A new crystal and a movement service is all she needs

I think this one is going to be a keeper.

Thanks Pete. The dial looks pristine underneath that beat up crystal. Could it have been refinished? It's kind of a bummer that the GMT hand and center sweep lume has degraded a little bit, everything else inside the case looks brand new.

Try getting a close up of the dial so others can chime in

edit, just read your post. Looks like it is the same guy. Congrats. I tried to pick this one up as well. Look at my "watch out" thread.

Yes Indeed, That is the one!

Here it is outside the case, This is about as close as my camera will let me get. What do you guys think?

The heavy flash washed out the color of the lume :/ My photography isn't really good- I blame the camera.

Nothing suggests a refinished IMHO. You scored yourself a good watch.

Here are up close pics of the bracelet. As you can see, there are no numbers on the endlinks, and no date code on the bracelet clasp. Is this typical for a USA model?

Sadly, I think this one is too long for me.. even if i took out all the removable links.
